Lanzarote

The Canary Islands are the ideal year-round destination if you’re after some sun. Although warmer in the summer months, you’ll still enjoy temperatures of a warm 23°C. Lanzarote is a beautiful island and has so many charming characteristics which makes it a firm favourite amongst holidaymakers for some winter sun. Not only are you treated to pristine golden sands in the popular resort of Costa Teguise, this magical island also has plenty of black-sand beaches like El Golfo in the south west. The beaches are amazing - make sure to be careful when stepping onto them though as they heat up a lot quicker than the golden sands we’re all used to!

There’s so much on offer here, including a trip to the summit of Mount Timanfaya - the active volcano, where you can dine in restaurant El Diablo which cooks tasty dishes from the volcano heat. Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Lanzarote without a camel ride through the breathtaking countryside - and you can stop by one of the many wineries around the island for an afternoon of wine tasting.

Windy as it is, Lanzarote is the place to be if you’re into watersports. The sea is perfect for it and you’ll often see quite a few windsurfers out there! Or if you prefer sales to sails a fun-filled day shopping in Arrecife or maybe a day lounging by the sea in Playa Blanca is more for you, there’s so much to do in Lanzarote and we’ve got the holiday for you.

Cyprus

Crystal-clear waters and sandy coves, it’s got to be Cyprus! This charming island in the Mediterranean Sea boasts amazing weather, delicious seafood dishes and perfect swimming spots. Cyprus is blessed to have Greek and Turkish culture and the streets bring a mix of old and new together – a perfect destination for the whole family. Maybe you’ll be wanting to cancel that return flight home?

With average temperatures of a comfortable 22°C, T-shirt weather is still a thing. The shallow waters of Fig Tree Bay are popular among families with young children and those looking for somewhere to head to for a quick dip. The beaches are the ideal spot to enjoy a day (or more) of catching that vitamin sea – and you’ll get a cracking tan!

You get the best of both worlds on this island, relax on the beaches or take a dip in the crystal-clear sea during the day and by night step into the non-stop party scene of Ayia Napa. You’ll find everything here and whether you’re visiting for a few days or fancy a week-long Cypriot trip, Cyprus is clearly an ideal choice.

Turkey

If you ask anyone where’s hot in October, Turkey will probably be their answer. It’s a popular destination for holidaymakers for its sun, sea and long list of things to do and see - making it the perfect place for a pre-winter holiday. October is a great time to visit, mainly for the reasons above, but also because the tourism season is winding down. You’ll get lower prices and avoid the typical crowds you’d see in the summer months!

You’ll still enjoy high temperatures with an average of 20°C, meaning a trip to the beach certainly isn’t off the cards. One of our favourite sandy spots is Belek Beach in the Antalya region, it has a 16km stretch of white sands which is perfect for beach bums! If you get too hot, the turquoise waters are perfect for a cool-down period and maybe a bit of marine life spotting.

The Turkish are proud of their food and, so they should be! Indulge in a tasty Turkish Kebab – not the greasy ones you’d expect from a takeaway after a night out, we’re talking about a fresh dish which is bursting with flavour! And of course, you can’t visit this spectacular country without enjoying Baklava, the syrupy pastry bites which go down a treat with a cup of coffee. Turkey has our heart and makes the perfect sunny getaway in dreary October.
