Antalya

Turkey is the ultimate summer holiday destination and the city of Antalya doesn’t fail to deliver! It has everything, from the amazing resorts to the tasteful food and - how could we forget? The beaches are incredible! There’s so much to do, from exhilarating afternoons at waterparks to a relaxing stroll through the bustling historic centre. With the average temperature reaching a toasty 27°C in August, you can certainly pack lightly and save room in the suitcase for souvenirs.

August is all about those sandy shores, and with more Blue Flag beaches than you can shake a stick at – 200 to be precise – beach bums are bound to feel right at home here. A firm favourite amongst locals and visitors is Belek Beach, which boasts a jaw-dropping 16km stretch of white sands and with the backdrop of the sparkling turquoise waters, it really is picture-perfect. If you fancy a different take to the coastal life, there are plenty of boat trips with many offering the opportunity to take part in scuba diving!

Most hotels have a fantastic spread of delicious Turkish and International dishes for you to enjoy, but if you fancy trying some places where the locals dine, head to the seafront or city centre. There are so many cafes and restaurants as well as lots of bars and clubs for those who fancy experiencing the buzzing nightlife of the city. Antalya really does have it all.

Crete

If you like it hot, Crete is the one for you. An ideal destination for an August getaway, you’ll get to experience this beautiful island in full bloom with sandy beaches, shiny blue seas and brightly coloured flowers lining the streets. Boasting an average temperature of 26°C throughout the month, there’s no wonder Crete is a popular choice for many holidaymakers in search of an unforgettable summer break.

Majorca

The Balearics are the ultimate summer destination and the island of Majorca is a firm favourite amongst holidaymakers of all ages. The island is a jewel in the Mediterranean Sea and is certainly a beach lover’s paradise – picture the beauty of those tranquil coves, the rugged coastline and calming turquoise waters. With average temperatures of 25°C, it’s the perfect climate for enjoying all Majorca has to offer without feeling too hot!
