Why we love Turkey and Tunisia
We’re all about people getting the most for their money, especially when it comes to holidays. Some people think that a holiday abroad is always going to be more expensive than a holiday in the UK, but are they right? We’ve done Vacation vs Staycation, but we thought we’d look at the little things that add up when you’re away. Nice meals, ice cream for the kids (and you, of course) and nights out are just some of the things that use up your cash when on your holidays, so we thought we’d do a little comparing.
Turkey and Tunisia are two of the best value for money destinations out there. With five-star hotels that are perfect for all holidaymakers being way cheaper than five-star properties in other countries, you already know you’re going to get an amazing and memorable getaway for less. With this in mind, we have so many brilliant deals to these beautiful sun-soaked countries, so we thought we could prove that all in all, you’ll be spending less when you’re away than you would if you were at home.
Here's what we found...
Hotel prices are per night based on a 7 night stay for 2 people in June. Researched on 10/02/2020. Price of a night out is based on 5 drinks, one nightclub entry and a 5 mile taxi ride. Researched on 10/02/2020.
What does this mean?
We did our research and got some average prices together of the little things we love to spend money on, both at home and abroad. By looking at the cost of things like theme park entry, a pint of beer, a night out, a taxi ride (5 miles), ice cream, a three-course meal and even a cheap meal – the UK comes in as the most expensive every time, mostly by a mile too!
This may only be the little things, but with them being regular purchases and having price differences as big as £48.20 – they can make a huge difference. Plus, if you’re looking for a luxury stay away, the average cost per night for a five-star stay in the UK is £70, which is double the cost in Tunisia at £35 and Turkey offers plush stays even cheaper at an average of £31 per night!
Plus, as of March 2nd 2020 British tourists will no longer be required to obtain a visa to visit Turkey, which saves a family of four upwards of £100 to travel there! For anyone planning to travel to Turkey prior to this date, will still be required and can be obtained online through the Turkish Government website.
But how hot?
Yes, money is important, but it’s also not everything. We don’t have to pay to simply sit under the sun or by the sea, but the question is: how hot do you want it? The average temperature from May to October in the UK ranges from 11°C to 16°C, whereas in Tunisia you’ll find averages between 19°C and 26°C, and in Turkey they range from 20°C to a sizzling 28°C. Scorching!
