Sun-kissed and full of fun, this iconic resort has long been a favourite for those who love it lively. Flying the rainbow flag with pride, Playa del Ingles is one of the world’s top LGBTQ+ destinations, with dedicated bars and hotels galore - and young families love the huge range of attractions, including one of the Canaries’ biggest aqua parks.

Beaches
With a mixture of sweeping bays and cosy coves, Playa del Ingles’ two miles of sands have something to offer every kind of beach lover. The biggest single stretch, towards the south of the resort, is full of cheerful hustle-and-bustle, with stacks of beach bars and shopping spots lining the prom. Plus, for a spot of R&R, there’s a trio of wave-shaped bays just a short stroll north - and the super-peaceful Playa de Veril is great for sunbathing au naturel.

Top tip
For a real walk on the wild side, slip on some sandals and head to the stunning Maspalomas Dunes. Just half an hour’s stroll from central Playa del Ingles, the desert-like landscape is straight out of a Hollywood movie, with glorious golden sands as far as the eye can see. For the ultimate photo opp, check out the panoramic viewpoint by the RIU Palace hotel - with jaw-dropping views stretching for miles, your Insta game will be upped in an instant.

Food & Drink
Whether you’re a fast food fan or culinary connoisseur, Playa del Ingles’ hundreds of restaurants and bars have something to suit every tastebud. If you fancy a traditional treat, the caldo de pescado fish soup is a must - team with crusty bread and moreish mojo dip for a seriously luscious lunch. Or, for light bites with a twist, head to Wapa Tapa in the Yumbo Centre - its sizzling small plates are perfect for sharing with family or friends.

Culture
Gran Canarian culture is all about families, fiestas and fun in the sun - and the annual Gay Pride Festival is no exception. Held across both Playa del Ingles and its sister resort, Maspalomas, each May, the ten-day long celebration is bursting with parades, pool parties and epic outdoor gigs. Elsewhere on the island, the summertime brings tons of top events for sports fans, from the Wind and Waves surf festival, to the Circular de Tejeda ultra-run.

Nightlife
The Yumbo Centre is at the heart of the resort’s nightlife scene, with over 25 buzzing bars to discover. Cocktail fans are sure to love the elegant Eiffel Bar, thanks to its impressive array of French favourites - and to add some sparkle to your stay, Ricky’s Cabaret Bar is a gigantic glitterfest of drag, comedy and old-school fun ‘n’ frolics. Live music more your bag? Take a stroll south to the beachfront Tipsy Hammock - pairing a delicious drinks menu with the latest funk, house and jazz beats, it’s a great spot for a toe-tapping tipple.

Playa Del Ingles Weather

With a daily average of ten hours of sparkling sunshine, Playa del Ingles is a real year-round destination. Highs of 25-26°C in July, August and September guarantee that summertime sizzle - and even in winter, a toasty 18°C is the norm. November, December and February can be a touch rainy, so a pac-a-mac is a top suitcase staple - and if you fancy a dip in the big blue, aim for a September stay, when the sea temperature is a refreshing 23°C.

Things To Do on Playa Del Ingles Holidays

Paseo Costa Canaria
Stretching all the way from Maspalomas to San Agustin, this two-mile long promenade takes in the very best of Playa del Ingles’ charms. With the whole length walkable in around an hour, it’s great for an easy-going trip out - head along at sunrise or sunset to bag some seriously impressive seafront snapshots.

Aqualand
Pulse-pounding slides, colourful kids’ zones and a lush lazy river - this amazing aqua park has it all, and bucketloads to spare. The Polynesia splash park is great for little ones, with pint-sized play aplenty - and the snake-like spirals of the Anaconda raft ride make for fabulous family fun. In need of a breather after all that action? There’s a gigantic lagoon pool lapped by gentle waves, along with a tropical sun terrace perfect for topping up that tan.

Yumbo Centre
This happening hotspot is a party paradise after dark - but with its huge range of shops, cafes and leisure facilities, the Yumbo makes a great daytime destination too. With six jewellery boutiques on offer, you’re in luck if bling is your thing - and thanks to the on-site hairdresser, beauty salon and gym, getting set for a big night out is a breeze. Plus, for family-friendly fun, there’s an 18-hole mini-golf course perched right outside.

Templo Ecumenico de San Salvador
Located right in the resort centre, this contemporary church offers an oasis of calm amidst all the action. Its spectacular stained-glass window is an attraction in itself, bathing the pews in a rainbow of colours - and design buffs will delight at the unique altar, hewn from a whopping 11-ton rock. Plus, the classical concerts are perfect for a tranquil tune or two - and if you fancy staying for a sermon, there’s plenty of English services on offer.
