Mojacar Weather

The weather is near-perfect for holidays in Mojacar as Costa Almeria is officially the driest area in Europe, making rainfall rare in winter and almost unheard of during the summer months. The mild Mediterranean climate means winter temperatures that rarely drop below 20° Celsius, peaking around a fabulous 30° Celsius in the summer months. That, and the average of 320 days of sunshine each year, makes Mojacar holidays ideal any time of the year.

Landscape

Miles of sun-kissed beaches, brilliant blue skies, rugged hillside vistas, phenomenal scenery and some of the best holiday weather in Europe all await you on your holiday to Mojacar, one of the most beautiful resort towns in Spain.

Things To Do on Mojacar Holidays

If you decide to take a break from all that basking in the Spanish sunshine, you will find plenty of other things to enjoy during your holidays to Mojacar. Explore the casbah-like narrow streets and discover the Moorish Fountain, which has been providing the town with water since Roman days and is still the focal point of village life. Drink your fill of the fresh, spring water before wandering over to the cafes of the New Plaza where you can sample the local cuisine as well as the incredible views of both the sparking Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding craggy hillsides. Make sure you don't leave your Mojacar holidays before you have visited the unusual fortified church of Santa Maria, the heart of the town's religious life, as well as the Old City Gate and Old Customs House.

Later on enjoy a round of golf at one of the area's many first class courses. Or, for those on holidays to Mojacar with a head for heights, why not explore the area from a hot air balloon or a paraglider?

Culture

Mojacar’s long history stretches back some 4,000 years. Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Greeks were all drawn to the area because of its rare beauty and strategic location, and their influences can still be seen throughout the city today. But, it was under the Moors that the town really flourished. They fortified the town walls and built the castle, making Mojacar an important Muslim town on the edge of Christian Europe.

In recent times, Mojacar has been the refuge of artists and the town is now rich in artisan shops and artistic life. One of the highlights of the town’s year is the elaborate Moors and Christians parades that are staged every May.

Nightlife

The Spanish love of late dining means that the tapas bars and restaurants of Mojacar really come alive at night. Enjoy the local specialties, washed down with a glass or two of rioja, listen to the music and discover how the Spanish really live. There's no need to book a babysitter, because even the youngest members of the family are welcome to join in the fun of your holidays in Mojacar.

For a change in scenery then why not make the short trip to nearby Cabo de Gata.
