What are the best beaches in Sorrento?
The beaches in Sorrento look like the backdrop to a film, with wooden platforms over dazzling blue water, surrounded by dreamy pastel houses on the cliffs. How do I keep a Sorrento holiday cheap and make sure it's still brilliant?
Use the SITA bus rather than private taxis along the Amalfi Coast (Sorrento to Positano is around £4 instead of £80). Eat where the locals eat, a step or two back from Piazza Tasso the prices halve. Picnic with deli food at Bagni Regina Giovanna or one of the other free coastal swim spots rather than paying for a beach club.
Travel in May, June, September or early October and the hotel rates drop noticeably without losing the sun. The Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii is £4 each way and beats every organised excursion price.
