Can I visit Mount Athos from Kriopigi?

Not directly – Mount Athos is an autonomous monastic state with strict entry rules (no women permitted, men need advance permits). But you can take a boat cruise along the coast for spectacular views of the monasteries. Most cruises depart from Ouranoupoli, about 1.5 hours from Kriopigi.
