FAQs

When's the best time to visit Barbati?

June and September are ideal – warm enough for swimming (25°C+), uncrowded and great value. July-August is hotter and busier but still lovely. Barbati never gets as packed as the bigger resorts.

How do I get to Barbati?

Corfu Airport is about 20km away – just 35 minutes by taxi. For maximum holiday chillness, we can sort your transfers as part of your package when you book.

Is Barbati good for families?

Yes, though the beach is pebbly rather than sandy – bring water shoes for little ones. The water is calm and crystal-clear, perfect for snorkelling. It's a peaceful resort without rowdy nightlife.

What's the nightlife like?

Relaxed rather than raucous. There are stylish cocktail bars and Greek tavernas for evening drinks, but no clubs. For livelier nightlife, Ipsos is a 20-minute walk or quick taxi ride away.

Is the beach sandy or pebbly?

Pebbly – smooth white pebbles that look gorgeous but are easier to walk on with water shoes. The water is incredibly clear because of it, and the beach has Blue Flag status.

Can I get around without a car?

Buses run along the coast to Corfu Town and Kassiopi, though they stop early evening. Taxis are available but not cheap (around €45-50 to Corfu Town). A hire car opens up the island properly.

What is the food like in Barbati?

Properly good traditional Greek and Corfiot cooking. The island's signature dishes include sofrito (veal in a garlicky white-wine sauce), pastitsada (spicy beef and pasta stew) and bourdeto (fish in a fiery tomato-and-pepper sauce). Dionysos is the standout taverna, perched on the clifftop with spectacular sea views and seafood grilled to order. Glyfa Taverna down on the waterfront has its own jetty and does excellent prawn saganaki and risotto.
