Easter Family Holidays – Where to go

Winter is looming and if you’re like us, you’ll want to swap this wet and windy weather for something a little more tropical. We’re showcasing the best places to head for a fantastic family holiday this Easter – after all we all need something to look forward to this winter…

Why Easter?

Think about it – the light at the end of the tunnel, the glimpse of warmth after a long winter, the promise of the start of summer – what a perfect time to get away! Team that with less crowds and no race for sun loungers and you’re onto a winner. Did we mention that Easter flights have just been released – meaning you’ll grab a bargain by booking now. Oh, and the earlier you book the better the choice of accommodation out there. So its affordable, has great weather, the best choice of hotel and less crowds – sound ideal to you? I know it does to us!

The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife has always been a popular choice for families. With fantastic year-round weather, plenty of gorgeous sandy beaches and tons of stuff to do, it’s no wonder families flock back to its shores every year.

Known locally as the ‘island of a thousand experiences’, you won’t be short of something to do here. Loro Parque promises endless fun with a huge variety of animals including sea lions, parrots and the largest waddle of penguins in the world (outside of Antartica of course). As Europe’s largest waterpark, Siam Park offers an adventure-packed day with adrenaline-fueled slides that whizz you through a shark aquarium and lazy rivers to kick back and soak up the sun.

Boasting a toasty 300 days of sunshine a year, Majorca is a perfect pick to escape the dark afternoons and drizzle of a UK spring. The waters are perfectly turquoise and the coastline gives way to small white sand coves and stunning stretches of picture-perfect beach.

Hop on a boat from Porto Cristo and head to the Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves) for an unforgettable day trip. Immerse the family in nature as you discover the stunning underwater lake. And it doesn’t stop there – set sail on this lake and you’re greeted with a stunning classical music concert! For a fun-filled day out for the kids head to Majorca’s famous Katmandu theme park. Enter the upside down world of Katmandu and discover a number of attractions and entertainment where the imagination comes to life!

Costa Calida

As one of the lesser-known Costa’s, Costa Calida is the perfect destination to discover something new this holiday. This beautiful region is home to 252km of coastline, four historical cities, one holy city, two thermal spas and 19 protected natural spaces.

The beaches are golden and the coastline is stunning and dramatic here with large rocky islands rising from the waters offshore creating the perfect view to accompany a day of relaxing at the beach. The waters are calm and shallow meaning it is the perfect place for families with children to play. And once you’re suitably rested why not head to one of the many historical churches and soak up the culture or head to the marine reserve for a spot of diving?

The Algarve

The Algarve offers a variety of experiences for a family holiday, from lively to quiet; action packed to blissfully peaceful. If the latter catches your eye, then you might just fall in love with this stunning area of Portugal, as we believe the Algarve comes up trumps for a relaxing family holiday.

Small towns such as Alvor and Praia da Luz offer stunning beaches and picturesque towns. Once thriving finishing towns, these Portuguese gems are a combination of pristine sand, whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets. And if you’re all relaxed out, the Algarve is also home to some of the country’s best waterparks to keep the whole family entertained.

Costa Blanca

If you’re looking for a fun-filled holiday with everything on your doorstep then this is the place for you. With a sunny climate and large towns including Alicante and Benidorm, Costa Blanca has everything you need to keep even the smallest members of the family entertained all holiday long.

Take in the natural beauty of the Algar Waterfalls and swim in the azure waters before enjoying a picnic lunch al fresco – a perfect day for spending quality time with the family under the Spanish sun. A day trip to Mundomar and Aqualandia will create lasting memories with the kids. Swim with dolphins, take in animal shows then head to the waterpark for a truly unique day out in Benidorm.
