Just returned from the baobab today. Stayed in room 2017 overlooking lazy river pool. The positives: hotel looks good, well maintained gardens and public areas. Fantastic pool scene. My 5 year old daughter loves this place- you couldn't pull her away from the lazy river, mini disco and panchi. The cocktails were excellent around the bar. The negatives make this hotel more like a 4* and are as follows: 1) the rooms are too noisy. Constant dragging noise from adjacent rooms woke us up early every morning. 2) Beds were two singles pulled together and constantly moved apart. At checkout, the reception lady said we could have asked for the bed to be changed to a double- nobody mentioned that at check in! 3) Breakfast was vast but the English breakfast was not at all five star. The bacon was stringy and tasteless, no proper sausage but they had what looked like hotdogs at breakfast ! Omelette was watery and tasteless. 4) Dinner was good but often very salty food. As it was buffet, we just discarded the salty foods and tried other things. The grilled meat are not pre seasoned and are cooked bland on the grill. 5) They didn't change our bed sheet on alternative days as the hotel policy dictates. When we complained, the house keeper and supervisor did come to attempt to change it but we declined as we had retired to the room after a busy day. Overall, hotel was ok but with the negatives above make this a good four star not five star. They need to address the above issues, stop charging for a safe, and sort out the wifi before they come close to a five star hotel. They can learn a thing or two from the Sheraton le caleta in Tenerife.

Well, we are a family of 3 and just returned yesterday. I don't always write every year after each big summer holiday, but wanted to this time. The hotel looks stunning and overall is excellent value for money (except for having to pay for the safe). We have been to a few different hotels in the canaries and this one stood out. It's high season, you have to get up early for your beds. That's the way it is. It's busy - again it's summer and I felt this was managed well. The restaurant (buffet) fab! The quality is amazing (huge limitless griddled king prawns)..my husband raved about the breakfasts. There are lots of pools..we liked the infinity by the Richard Burton Bar (what a fab building...gorgeous, with a super live band at night). Here I picked up wifi by the pool - it was better than I imagined..emails only really - forget downloading photos. The shower in the rooms is ace. There are shops 5 mins away (other places we've been to have been in the middle of nowhere!!). The animation team find something for young & old alike. The evening shows, yes, they are cheesy, but better than other places we've been too...all 5* and this is best so far. The cocktails brilliant..not expensive. My 7 year old is still dreaming about the non alcoholic mojito and the night time beach party. I'm rambling. What do all those moaners expect? We can't wait to go back..total all round classy hotel. I'd like to go back now.

I have just returned from 10 nights at this hotel as previous reviews have mentioned it is large and on arrival had to wait in a long check in queue. The room was very dark and felt very depressing specially in the bathroom. The buffet as you can imagine with a large hotel was a little crazy with kids crying and running around. Two people in my group were very sick after eating the paella in the buffet, so after that it really did put me off eating in there. We ate out a few times and the local area had some lovely restaurants and shops. The theme of this hotel was great and the pools, getting a sun bed around the main pool was impossible unless you got up early. This hotel would be great for families with young children. My partner had stayed here previously I said it had definitely gone down hill!

Our holiday in Baobab was fantastic ! It was a very big hotel with beautifull pools. Very clean. The staff was friendly. The rooms where magnificent with all facilities. The diner was varied and a lot off choice. The wether was pleasant, enough ventilation, professional animation. We will definitely return.
