Well ive been back to this place again and cannot fault it - £200 for 10 days! The apartments are clean and basic -staff always very friendly and helpful. The shop wasn't open when we went but that...
Firstly, when we booked this holiday, the day before leaving- very last minute, we booked it with the expectation that it would be Spanish, complete with Spanish food, as lo and behold... We were going to Spain!! I don't understand people booking a holiday in a foreign country and then complaining about the foreign food and expecting everything to be British. The hotel looked a bit bland from the outside, however it is across from a lovely beach and railway line, which was very convenient! The crossing to the beach was right outside the hotel. Inside the hotel was nicely decorated. Reception staff were kind enough and our room looked clean. However, the room was above the bar, 112, so was extremely noisy, further not being helped by the very thin walls. The bar noise would finish at midnight, after which we'd have to wait for noisy people to go back to their rooms before we could get any peace. The only other gripe with the room was that the bathroom was appallingly designed! Tiny shower, toilet right next to the wall in the corner. Very strange! Tall or bigger built people will struggle! Next: the food. We thoroughly enjoyed the slightly hectic buffet style food. The variety was great, there was freshly cooked food by a chef while you waited and the desserts and fruits were plentiful. Most of the food was Spanish (no way!!) which was great. Just try some! The tables were rammed in causing a bit of a space issue and the Spanish guests (which most of them were, aged 65+) were sometimes quite pushy but that just added to the craziness! The buffet food wasn't that hot, however this is another cultural point as that's how the Spanish like their food. Chips were available for those not happy with the wide selection. The only downside to the meals was that sometimes the cleanliness of the glasses and plates lacked, which we told them. The all-inclusive system was ok. Only one drink at a time and not on brands. Could be better. Entertainment-wise there wasn't much going on. Discos (for the oldies) in the evenings. Bingo during the day. The only thing that we enjoyed was the Flamenco Show on the Monday night. The weather was nice but the pool was freezing and the roof bar was closed. We did book out the spa room a couple of times which was nice. Pineda de Mar was small; not much to do. But we didn't want to do much so that suited us. We went to Barcelona for a day (€9.80 return) with a hotel packed lunch which was great! We also hired the free hotel bikes and went for a glorious ride along the coast. Beautiful! Overall, the hotel is not really suited for families or generally young couples like ourselves. It is very Spanish with predominately old, Spanish guests. However we rather enjoyed it as a 5 day sunny holiday to purely relax and not do a lot after a few very stressful weeks at work. Especially as it was Easter week, we felt that we had a good deal as we are limited by school holidays as I'm a teacher. I wouldn't go again, however I do not regret going. The food was wonderful and the staff were also friendly and kind. Perfect location for Barcelona trips.
nice hotel at the top of the commercial centre clean and tidy dont expect the ritz,24 hr security pool bar and shop. lift to all floors but we just walked as we where close to the top.large car park...
The majority of staff if not all of them are polite, friendly and will do their utmost to assist guests regardless of language barrier(s). The hotel have seen better days especially the room(s) and the drainage system is in need of a major upgrade due a foul & strong odour emitted from the sinks, shower and bath tub . Free wi-fi is only available for 15 minutes per device everyday. Wi-fi for 7 full days will cost one €20 and 3 days will cost one €10 but you can only use one device at a time. One has to pay €20 to get a TV remote which is refundable on check-out on production of a receipt. The beach, town centre and train station are all very close to the hotel. The best thing was having a market along the street outside the hotel which we were advised is a permanent feature every Friday.
my first stay at blue star had heard bad reviews so wasnt expecting much as most people called it the last resort hotel.i was in what i would call a good placed room 628 2 floors from pool and 3...
Went to this hotel as a tired and mobily-challenged couple to recuperate from a year of illness and stress. For this purpose it was perfect, the hotel is an hour via R1 trains from Barcelona Sants station and is a lovely ride along the coast, costing only £4.90. The train station is a hop, skip and a jump from the hotel and overlooks the beach. There is not much in Pineda, one street with a variety of tourist shops, chemists and tabac, a couple of very small supermarkets and a handful of cafes. As we went in March the weather was not overly warm but pleasant enough for a stroll. The hotel itself says it has a spa, this is in fact a jacuzzi and sauna in a room that must be booked in reception, we were able to use it every day and actually enjoyed having it all to ourselves. The gym is just a room with a couple of machines and, if you are so inclined, the beach has various machines all the way along. The pool is stunning and there were plenty of sunbeds around it, views over the mountains and beach are lovely and we even braved it well wrapped up as it was a great place to lie back and soak up the atmosphere. We chose to go all inclusive, as with most holidays like this, food on offers gets a bit repetitive but there was a wide variety and they tried to cater for many tastes, satisfying mainly a mediterranean diet. One criticism would be that the food was never very hot, we did discover a microwave though by the bread table so would zap anything we wanted piping. Snacks of bread, hams and cheese in the bar were also a bonus but again food in the hot plate rarely was. One gripe we had was that there was nowhere to get a drink if you are awake before breakfast, this would be easily solved if they either put kettles in the rooms or left the coffee machine on. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, especially when we wanted to go to Barcelona for the day, providing maps, tips and directions. The other clientele were mainly old italian and french couples, we were there for peace and quiet so this did not bother us but would not be the sort of hotel we would like to use with our large family and there is not much for children to do. The entertainment programme was hilarious, there seemed to be something happening in the bar all the time with Bruno, we never joined in any of it but watched on in quiet amusement at the live singing, jenga battles and yoga classes. As all inclusive guests at HTOP you can access other hotels, the free bus only runs in the summer but we managed to walk to Calella in under an hour and visited the Calella Palace, this wasn't anywhere near as nicely furnished, resourced or staffed as Pineda Palace - full of brits on the piss and the food on offer for lunch was much less plentiful or attractive than we had gotten used to. A great base if you wanted to explore Barcelona and get some relaxation time too.
The hotel is basic accommodation at a reasonable price. You (hopefully) won't be spending that much time in your room. The rooms are clean and tidy and the beds comfortable. The furnishings and...
The hotel is ideally placed across from the beach, just a railway track inbetween but not a problem. The station is just a few minutes away straight to barcelona 9.80e return fare. I had a good holiday there ,there was 2 complaints, which were that the walls are quite thin and you can hear noise from other rooms and that in the restaurant the plates were not under hot lights which meant your plate didnt keep the food warm. I went at early season which meant the amount of spanish guests outnumbered any other but most of them were pleasant. The staff were nice and the room was reguarly cleaned. The pool is on the roof terrace so if the sun is out it is nice to sunbathe on,not very good entertainment but the drinks were good
The Mediterranean climate means long, hot summers, and mild winters that make Pineda de Mar holidays extremely attractive any time of year. Average temperature fluctuates around 17° Celsius, making Pineda a pleasant destination for a holiday in Spain any time of year. In July and August , the thermometer can nudge past 30° Celsius, while even in winter the temperature rarely drops below five; frost and snow are almost unheard of. The protection of the coastal mountain range stops the place from becoming too windswept.
