Luna Holiday Complex has just introduced a new outlet to the complex as well as to Mellieha.
The Diningroom is a new and exciting concept restaurant in Mellieha which specialises in high-end Mediterranean cuisine with a stron emphasis on local produce. The concept of The Diningroom was derived from the idea of presenting something different to the market. The Diningroom is a relaxed & casual place to eat & drink.
The Diningroom emphasises on what is local, and what is Mediterranean. In fact we focus as much as possible on local ingredients and local produce, with a fusion of international cuisine. The menu is unpretentious yet titillating and ranges from traditional to contemporary gastronomy, however our speciality is what we call Chef’s Dinners.
Chef’s Dinners; we encourage our guests to contact us a couple of days before to organise this special dinner. With a discussion with our Host or the Chef himself, you can decide on a certain theme, Main ingredient or Main course, and the Chef will create a dinner tailor made exactly for your needs and budget. In fact most of the guests that have tried our concept of Chef’s Dinners just told us what they do not like, and let us Surprise them! The combination of the establishment’s culinary expertise along with your peroal recommendations can only spell out an evening to remember.
Chef’s dinners are available for couples as well as groups, and different venues are available if private dining is desired.

My husband and I stayed at the Luna from 15th - 25th August and can only fault one thing about it - our room. We had a standard studio room, 3312, booked through a tour operator who was unable to offer a superior room (probably because webooked fairly late). The room was extremely dark and depressing due to there being only a single door in one corner behind a half wall at the end of the room, giving virtually no natural light or fresh air. Looking at the layout of the hotel it looked like they had extended the hotel at some point in the past by adding another block adjoining what was the patio door and balcony removing most of the balcony and leaving a view of the new block's wall from the tiny area of balcony that was left. This was hemmed in between the two blocks, though if you craned to look between the two blocks there was a slim view of the sea. There was no view to the outside at all if you were inside the room. The same rooms above and below on the other floors were the same as this. These rooms should really be marketed as budget rooms not standard with a clear description of what you are getting. The Luna offers a different level of service to customers booking direct with them, from free air conditioning, to more frequent cleaning and choice of room. Having said all that about the room, that really was the only downside for us and the only thing that stopped me giving another star. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good with fried eggs, sausages and potatoes as well as the usual continental meats cheese bread etc. Our room was cleaned twice during the 10 days and towels changed every couple of days. We had to pay for air conditioning as we had not booked direct, which was not able to be controlled from the room but turned on directly from reception and stayed on permanently even when we were not in the room, which did seem a little wasteful but we had paid a flat rate for it so it made no difference to the cost. There were 2 pools, the one on the ground floor was advertised as being 'suitable for families' and the rooftop pool was I think meant to be a quieter more relaxing pool. There were rules written up at this pool about not jumping in and no inflatables or balls, but it would have been better if this had been enforced more as there were some children being allowed to ignore this. Alternatively they could make the smaller top pool for adults only. We never had a problem finding a sunbed as they were quite plentiful, although if you wanted a sunbed cushion you had to hire one at €1.5 per day. We liked the position of the Luna, being at the bottom of the village near the beach. There were several good restaurants within a few minutes walk and a short bus trip up the hill to the main village found more restaurants, bars and shops. The buses stopped outside the hotel, were cheap and frequent and you could travel virtually anywhere on the island by bus, though they did get crowded. The Luna had a very good mini market and a bar that led off the reception area which was also good for cocktails and drinks in the evening. All in all I would stay at the Luna again but would book a superior room and possibly book direct instead of through a tour operator.

Just back from a weeks stay in the Luna complex in Malta. After reading others reviews I was very wary about going but I had nothing to be wary about as the hotel is absolutely spotless and most of the staff are super pleasant. The apartment was cleaned every day with the beds being changed every day too. The pool area was kept very clean and the food was good. Nearly all of the staff were absolutely brilliant, very helpful, always smiling and nothing was ever any trouble. I just want to thank the staff for making our stay so much more pleasant! Tom, Carmen, Lula, Claire, Melissa and Daniel. You are all a credit to the Luna complex!! There was one staff member Marija who was not very helpful whatsoever, she was argumentative and continued eye rolling each time we approached her to ask for drinks food etc. We were on holiday in a large group of over 20, one of the nights we were at the bar around 11.30 when Marija decided to close the bar when her boyfriend arrived who she proceeded to kiss infront of the punters.didnt give any warning for bar closing for last orders. Another night, ordered food on karaoke night, asked for just chicken on baguette but when I checked my receipt she had put feta cheese on it. When Maria was approached she was so ignorant and argued with me that I didn't say I didn't want cheese...but I didn't ask for it??? Do I have to say I want cheese on a pizza then? I have never been spoken to like that in my life!! Food arrived with the cheese on the baguette so I brought it back up to not so nice Maria, and she just rolled her eyes and walked away and just left me standing holding my plate with the wrong food on it. What I did notice was that when men went up to the bar Marija was very nice and smiled at them, is it just the girls she didn't like??? As it was not just me who complained about her ignorance! Other than that one staff member we had a great time at the Luna complex and the rest of the staff made up for one persons ignorance. We will definitely be returning!!
