Why do people like Klismata?
Short Airport Transfer - At just 8km from Kefalonia airport, you're checked in and unpacking within twenty minutes of landing. Properly handy after a long travel day.
Inland Village Pace - Olive groves, traditional Kefalonian houses and the kind of quiet that reminds you why you came on holiday in the first place. Not a tourist strip in sight.
Walkable to Spartia - The neighbouring village of Spartia sits a short walk away with family-run tavernas, a café and a small mini-market for the essentials.
Easy Reach to Everything - Lassi's beaches are 10 minutes by car, Argostoli's harbour and food scene 15 inutes, and the headline sights of northern Kefalonia within an easy day's drive.
Where to stay in Klismata
Klismata's a small village and the few accomodation options here are often booked up, or unavailable so we reccomend either staying in Vyzantio Apartments (if there are any avaliable) or looking at staying in one of the larger resorts nearby and coming into Klismata for a day or two.
Vyzantio Apartments - Our favourite in the village itself, modest but decent, 12 self-catering studios and maisonettes set around an outdoor pool and garden. Each unit has its own kitchenette, balcony or terrace, and there's an on-site family restaurant and bar for evenings you don't fancy cooking.
Lassi - 10 minutes by car, Kefalonia's main beach resort with sandy beaches, a strip of bars and restaurants and easy airport access. The pick if your priority is a sandy beachfront base with Klismata on the doorstep.
Argostoli - 15 minutes by car, the island capital with the best food scene and a buzzing harbour walk. The pick for travellers who want urban energy as the main holiday feel with the rural side as a day out.
Svoronata - The next village along the airport road, a couple of kilometres away, with traditional charm, olive groves and uncrowded beaches just down the slope. Same calm rhythm as Klismata with a slightly bigger village core.
Things to do in Klismata
Klismata itself is small enough to wander in an afternoon, but the southwest of Kefalonia is properly well-connected, so a hire car turns this into a base for exploring the whole island. The split below works for whatever shape your group is.
👨👩👧👦 Things to Do in Klismata for Families
🏖️ Beach day at Makris Gialos - Lassi's headline beach is 10 minutes by car, golden sand, sunbeds and beach bars and shallow water that's brilliant for younger kids.
🐢 Argostoli harbour walk - 15 minutes north, the working port where loggerhead turtles regularly bob around the boats waiting for the fishermen's offcuts. Properly exciting for kids.
🚗 Day trip to Melissani Cave - About an hour north near Sami, a magical underground lake where rowing boats glide through electric-blue water. Pair with Drogarati Cave next door for a full nature day.
🦎 Kefalonia Botanica gardens - 10 minutes north toward Argostoli, a small botanical garden with marked walking trails through native plants and shaded picnic spots. Easy half-day for younger ones.
💑 Things to Do in Klismata for Couples
🌅 Sunset dinner in Spartia - The neighbouring village's family-run tavernas handle a quiet evening with a view properly well, walkable from your door so you don't need to drive home.
🍷 Robola wine tasting - The Robola Cooperative in the Omala Valley does the proper tour-and-tasting for the local Mount Aenos white wine; Gentilini Winery is the polished family-run alternative. Both half an hour north.
🏖️ Drive day to Myrtos Beach - About an hour and a half north, the most photographed beach in Greece. Pair with a stop at the pastel village of Assos on the way back for the full Kefalonia couples' day.
🏛️ Argostoli food scene - 15 minutes north, the island capital handles a long candlelit dinner well, with the De Bosset Bridge and harbour walk for a romantic stroll afterwards.
🎉 Things to Do in Klismata for Groups
🛥️ Boat day from Argostoli - Hire a small boat from the capital's harbour and explore the southern coast's coves. Bluetooth speaker essential.
🍴 Long taverna lunch in Spartia - The neighbouring village handles a big group table happily, with mixed-grill platters and carafes of Robola the natural pick. Walk it off afterwards.
🌃 Evening in Argostoli - The island capital's nightlife runs to cocktail bars, late-night cafés and a handful of clubs. 15 minutes by taxi and pre-book the ride back.
🚙 Drive day to Assos and Myrtos - Two of the most photogenic spots on the island within an hour and a half north. Combine with a stop at Sami for the cave system on the way back.
