Playa Dorada Beach: This is the heart and soul of Playa Dorada. With its golden sands (hence the name!) and properly blue waters, it's a slice of paradise for everyone. Whether you're looking to lounge with a cocktail, try your hand at water sports, or build the ultimate sandcastle, this beach has got you covered. Plus, with beachfront resorts lining the shore, refreshments are just a sandy footstep away!

Costa Dorada Beach: A tad quieter than its bustling neighbour, Costa Dorada is where you go to escape the crowds and truly unwind. The gentle waves make it perfect for a relaxing swim, and if you're lucky, you might even spot some local marine life. It's the ideal spot for some 'me time' or a romantic beach date.

Playa Chaparral: A bit off the beaten path, Playa Chaparral is for those who crave a bit of adventure. It's a hotspot for windsurfing and kiteboarding, thanks to those perfect breezes. Travel Advice

• Flight time - Around 9 to 10 hours from major UK & Ireland airports, flying into Gregorio Luperon International Airport (POP).

• Airport transfer - Gregorio Luperon airport is roughly 15-20 minutes from the Playa Dorada resort complex.

• Time difference - Four hours behind GMT year-round (no daylight saving).

• Currency - Dominican Peso (DOP). US dollars widely accepted at resorts and tourist areas. Cash is more useful than cards outside the resort complex.

• Passport and visa - UK & Ireland passport holders do not need a visa for stays up to 30 days. Passports must be valid for at least six months. A tourist card is included in your airline ticket cost.

• Plugs - Type A and B (US-style flat pins), 110V. Bring a universal adaptor.

• Tipping - Tipping in US dollars is appreciated at resorts. Budget one to two dollars for housekeeping and bar staff, two to five dollars for restaurant servers and excursion guides. Bring ones, fives and tens in cash.

• Tap water - Stick to bottled water. Resorts provide it free of charge.

• Health - No mandatory vaccinations, but check with your GP before travelling. Hepatitis A and Typhoid boosters are commonly recommended. Mosquito repellent and high-factor sun cream are essential.
