Where to stay in Lanzarote

We have dazzling hotels in amazing resorts all over the island, but most of our holidaymakers choose to stay in one of the big three resort areas…

Puerto del Carmen

Lanzarote's liveliest resort. It's got the longest golden sand beaches, with Playa Grande being the main event - perfect for families with its gentle slope into the sea and Blue Flag status. The Old Town Harbour area is charming with its brilliant seafood restaurants. The main strip is buzzing with bars, pubs and live music venues that'll keep you entertained till the early hours. It's perfect for groups of friends, couples who like a bit of action, families who want loads of activities on their doorstep, and anyone who wants shopping, dining, and entertainment all within walking distance.

Playa Blanca

The sophisticated choice - upmarket, peaceful, and absolutely stunning. The beaches here are spectacular - Playa Blanca itself is lovely, but the real gems are Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada with their white sand (imported, but who cares when it looks this good!) It's perfect for couples seeking romance and luxury, families who like a more refined atmosphere, and anyone who loves a boujee break.

Costa Teguise

The sporty, family-friendly option. Wide streets, loads of green spaces, and some fantastic beaches, including Playa de las Cucharas, which is a windsurfing and kitesurfing paradise. The layout is brilliant for families - everything's easily walkable, there are loads of parks and playgrounds, and the beaches have lovely shallow areas perfect for little ones. You're also close to some of Lanzarote's top attractions, the Jameos del Agua caves and the Cactus Garden.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Things to do in Lanzarote for families

One thing you can't go wrong with on a family holiday? Dolphin-spotting! They're squeaky, they're adorable, and they're swimming about all over the shop in Lanzarote's waters. Head on a boat trip for some of the best chances to spot them around the island - you might even see some other underwater friends while you're out there!

You don't have to sail away for a fun-filled day out with the kiddos, though. There are plenty of beaches to go around. Sandcastle-building, seafront paddling, ice cream-eating. It's all a vibe. There are even water sports to keep the restless teens entertained when they're too cool for sunbathing. And if you've got kids who are more into waterslides than water sports, then AQUAPARK Costa Teguise is where it's at. It's got enough twisty-turny slides and pools to keep the whole crew entertained, no matter what you're into. Top tip - check out an all-inclusive holiday to Lanzarote. With the kids entertained all day, you get more time for those poolside cocktails.

❤️ Things to do in Lanzarote for couples

For a bit of adventure, the magical Cueva de los Verdes are well worth a visit, with underground lava flows and pretty caverns that make the perfect movie-like backdrop for a day trip.

Speaking of volcanoes, you might expect vineyards to be found in more green, leafy regions, but Lanzarote's nailed the volcanic vineyard game thanks to the mineral-rich soils. There are several vineyards where you can enjoy a romantic wander, and of course, treat yourself to a taste of the good stuff. Chin chin!

When it comes to elevating date night, you can head to a trusty rooftop bar like Rooftop Biosfera in Puerto Del Carmen for ocean views, an open-air cinema and delish cocktails on offer, or go one step further with a sunset catamaran tour. Nothing says romance like sailing across the water with a bottle of bubbly while the sky fades to orange. Forget the cinema, that's your movie moment right there.

🥳 Things to do in Lanzarote for groups

It's no secret that the choppy waters here are perfect for a bit of surfing, so why not get the whole gang together for a surf sesh? You can even turn it into a contest to make it more exciting (and dramatic). Whoever falls off their board first buys the first round of beers. If surfing's not your vibe, there are plenty of other water sports to choose from - like jet ski rides, boat trips and diving.

For a more land-bound adventure, why not hop on a tour to some of the volcanic landscapes? You can even hop on an off-road buggy or quad bike for the full experience.

And - of course - you can't go wrong with some group wining and dining. Head on a tour to some of the local vineyards, or simply hit up one of the seafront restaurants or rooftop bars for a taste of the local stuff straight from the bottle. Good wine and good company are always a killer combo, right?

💰 How to do Lanzarote on a budget

Newsflash: you don't have to splash the cash to have top-tier cheap holiday to Lanzarote. If history and nature are your bag, then you'll be pleased to know that you can head to the iconic Timanfaya National Park for a teeny weenie entry fee (about €20 for adults and €10 for kids, and FREE for the tots under 6!). It's the perfect way to get out and about without burning a hole in your wallet.

Of course, possibly the most obvious way to spend your time on a budget is to hit the beach! We might be biased, but you can't go wrong with some good ol' sand and sea action, and most public beaches are totally free to use! Just plop down a towel and be on your merry way.
