I wanted to give this hotel a really good review. It has a lot going for it. the rooms are spacious and well furnished; food was very good; and the staff are outstanding - without exception they were helpful, pleasant and efficient. But there were two problems. One is the layout of the hotel: the two main blocks are roughly North/South in orientation, so at best each room gets sun only half a day, and the staggered blocks actually tend to shade even more. Also the hotel is on sloping ground, so unless you are on a high floor you may have a view of a wall or a hedge. Our room was borderline acceptable for a 4 star hotel, but poor enough for a 5 star. We were offered some alternative rooms, but they were no better. The other, and bigger, problem was the temperature of the dining rooms and bars. They were very cold. OK, this was in March, but we have been in many other Canarian hotels at that time of year and we have never been cold indoors. Even when the sun was shining outside the indoor areas were uncomfortable. I have never seen so many people wearing sweaters and scarves in a dining room. The staff told us that other people had made the same observation, but they had to keep the ventilation on high in order to prevent steaminess and food smells. All I can say is that that has never been the case elsewhere. We would not go back.

Hotel is massive and the rooms lovely. The pools are huge and the spa perfect. My complaint was the buffet restaurant. In the first we were told there was only seating outside. It was freezing so the waiter showed us to another buffet restaurant. We told the girl we were cold and wanted somewhere warm but she placed us near the door where there was a terrible draught. One of the plates was dirty and on picking several others up most had chips underneath. I asked for poached eggs which were already cooked and sitting in water. My plate was swimming and the eggs freezing! For a 5 star hotel this was poor. on checking out my mother mentioned this to the receptionist who was quite patronising and told us we should go back to the restaurant and fill out a form and "oh I wouldn't put up with that" she said snootily. I felt she should have dealt with the complaint. We then asked her to order a taxi which she did but didn't say how long it wd be or where to wait and we had to see ourselves out when we saw one arrive. There was no offer of help, my mother is 76! The taxi driver thankfully was polite, kind and very helpful.

A word of warning about the kind of Hotel and type of holiday. My impression is that Yaiza is targeted to families with small children (up to 10/11 years old). The beautiful structure, the amazing number of facilities ( Children's pool, Jacuzzi for children, Children Park with over 10000 m2 for Kids up to 16 years old with supervision) are what the best to expect for families. It is, IMHO, not the right place for teenagers because there are not so many "points of aggregation" for them (discos, bars etc) and most of the Hotel activities are for for small kids Being such a big Hotel, it is also excellent for couples or friends who just want to relax (Children pool and Jacuzzi are in a separated area) My Wife, my daughter (almost 3 years old) decided for this Hotel after having read the Trip Advisor reviews, but quite honestly, we did not expect such am amazing experience (first time in Lanzarote, and Canarian Islands) We booked a junior family suite and it did not have a sea view, but actually we did not explicitly asked for it, so no complain on this side. We had a warm welcome with drinks, map of the hotel, and an exhaustive explanation of the services. There are staff members who speak all the widely spoken languages The rooms were spacious with a spacious bathroom and excellent Toiletries. Everything was spotless clean serviced at least twice a day with chocolate left on the pillow. The Hotel has staff members who speak most of the widely used and spoken languages (well not sure about Chinese though...) but English, German, French, Russian, Italian, Portuguese and of course Spanish are well represented. Yaiza is very close to the sea, matter of meters :-) and the beach is beautiful and clean as the sea itself (although water is cold, but it is Lanzarote, and this is the Atlantic Ocean not Indian Ocean, so it is cold!) The good news are that most of the pools are heated (only one is not) and Playa Blanca has one of the warmest and stable micro-climate of the Islands and rain is very very rare, so sunbath is great every season. There are three spotless clean Pools (a relatively large Children pool, and two large ones for Adults) with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, despite the unnecessary habit of some people getting up early to reserve them. Towels are provided for the pool and changed as often as you want I strongly advise having breakfast there (you can choose one of three restaurants, but food is the same). Breakfast itself is a sort of experience for such a big Hotel, everything was delicious, service is perfect, in two weeks we could not taste all different varieties of available food. A big plus for the fruit quality especially for the (big) Orange Juice press devices, constantly re-filled. We did not use the Thalasso/Sauna as the weather was constantly sunny and we did not want to loose the possibility to stay outside. There are, I believe, 8 restaurants of different kind and cousine, but there are so many different paces to eat outside the hotel, that, with our small daughter a fine restaurant could turn into a bad experience. We only ate twice at the Bar in the Swimming pool area in the family guestroom block, and it was, again a delicious experience (expensive but expected, it is a five star hotel) Hotel has an internal theater where shows are organised, mostly for kids, a nice set of shops, and plenty, plenty of space in the common areas, for walking, talking or simply relaxing. A great plus for families with children is the Kikoland (no supervision for babies below three, parents must take care) where parents can leave their children for some time, and many facilities (Play Houses with games and activities for all ages, tennis court, etc). What I also found a great idea is the large internal area close to the pools and restaurants filled up with plants, small water streams and benches to simulate a tropical garden, it is really perfect to chill up. Wifi is free and covers all the Hotel areas (room included). The island is really nice and most the spots can be visited with organized trips, we have rented a car and that gave us a lot more freedom, very close to the Hotel, the Costa de Papagayo is a set of gorgeous beaches to visit. Nice attractions are spread all over the island (The two parks on the west sides, Timanfayo and Los Vulcanes, the inner areas with La Geria and San Bartolome', the breath-taking Mirador del Rio on the other side of Lanzarote, Jameos de Agua etc). It is also worth (with expensive Ferry) bringing the car or organize a day trip to the twin Island of Fuerteventura (very different landscapes) To summarize, a great hotel, with a superb service, everything perfect, well worth the money for a relaxing holiday, really to recommend!

Lovely family hotel which caters for all your needs as a parent. An appointment with Elisabeth concept is a wonderful experience to ensure you are wearing the correct hair, make up and clothes for your skin tones. Also help with your body proportions helps to save time on clothes shopping when you have a busy working and family life!
Cheap Playa Blanca holidays are more or less a fixture for tourists the whole year round, thanks in no small part to the consistently warm Lanzarote temperatures - consistently hot, that is! Hot it may be, averaging around 18° Celsius in December and 26° Celsius by the summer, but sultry breezes, courtesy of the trade winds, mean you’re never flustered. Having said that, ensure you have your sun cream on at all times to protect you from the sun's rays.
As UK, Courses or boosters sometimes advised: hepatitis A (not normally for package tourists).
