No idea where to start with this review! We stayed from 16th-27th August, all inclusive with another couple. Staff: we had a late flight and arrived at the hotel around 10pm on Sunday evening. The man on reception was very helpful and polite and tried to check us in as quick as possible. Throughout our stay all staff were polite and would say hello whenever they saw us. We did get moaned at by one of the maids about leaving clothes on the bed though but nothing major. Food: we ate out 3 nights, 2 of these was due to excursions and the 3rd was us wanting to go into the town for the evening. There were theme nights and there was a great choice of food. For breakfast you could have an omelette freshly cooked, fried eggs or pancakes. The waiting staff were lovely, and kept the restaurant very clean. Rooms: our room was very spacious, the bathroom was a great size, the television only had about 3 English channels but why would you want to sit in your room and watch TV while you're on holiday!? We also had a great view of the beach from our balcony. Our room was cleaned everyday, bedding was changed every 3 days. Entertainment: this hotel has one of the best entertainment teams we've ever seen. They mime the songs but they can most certainly dance! Their dance routines are great and you can clearly see they put a lot of effort into them. There was something different on each night, and even into the second half of our stayed the entertainment scheduled was changed and didn't watch something we had already seen. We didn't have any children with us but the kids club also looked like it had a lot of interest and we saw a foam party taking place and the people who ran the kids club were very cheerful and friendly. Bar: no problems with the bar and the bar staff were polite and cheerful. Ques were kept down low as well which was great. Pool: 3 different sized pools, and a small children's one. If you want a sunbed be willing to get up at 5am to claim some. It's mad but that's what happens in a big hotel and not enough space for more sun beds. Lifeguards were on duty and there was more than one at some points of the day. They would go round removing towels from beds if needed. There was incident in the main big pool one day, the lifeguards dealt with it really well and efficiently, although it did mean the pool needed to be closed but that wasn't anything they could help. This was one of the best hotels we have stayed in, we got told that it's closing on Monday to be refurbished, although not sure why as we thought it was great. The staff were great, it was clean, food choice was good, entertainment was good and location of the hotel is great. The beach is right opposite, you can get a bus into the town or a taxis which was about €4-6. We will definitely be back again very soon!

This was our 3rd consecutive stay at this hotel over the past 3 summers. (please see previous reviews) (All stays mid August) The hotel did have its faults on previous trips however was largely a good hotel. This year however was something else. What an absolutely shocking experience. Rooms Generally the rooms are spacious however this year we were given room 1218 which happens to be right next to the cleaner’s store. This room is a bit smaller than the others but caused no problem in that respect. My problem with this room was due to the noise from the cleaner’s store every morning (my wife told me as I was standing at the pool trying to keep a space to sit) the noise had my wife and kids up early every morning too! We complained to reception about this however, they made it clear they had no interest and we would not be moved!!!! The rooms are very tired and the place is clearly due a full refurbishment, it was the same last year however, seemed much worse this year. The sofa beds are still in use.... again UNNACCEPTABLE! Pools The sunbed fiasco has worsened dramatically since last year with sunbeds being reserved from 5am onwards. This is specifically a problem for those with kids as there is only space for approx. 30 beds at the kids pool all of which were reserved by 6am at the latest. A few beds were still available up to around 7:30 - 8am around the other pools however I had no intention of allowing my kids to play in an 8ft deep swimming pool. YES 8ft deep in a hotel aimed at familys!!!!!! Generally the pool area is very nice however is badly laid out for the number of guests making space tight however a lot of people are happy to use the grass areas if they are up early enough to get a bed. No doubt management will respond stating that August is one of the busiest times hence the problem.......NO Alvaro! I have said it before and I will say it again. BUY MORE SUNBEDS!!!! The Beatriz Playa & Spa did not have a single sunbed reserved at 9am one morning when I walked down to have a look. The kids pool is still used for adult exercise classes which sees the kids ejected from the pool (or pushed out of the way by adults) - completely unacceptable!!!!!!! The lifeguards lifted towels on a few occasions however only when people complained. Its worth noting that from what I could see this was only done for Spanish guests who complained!!!!! These issues alone made the hotel completely unsuitable for those with kids!!! Activities Activities are few and far between. Other than throwing a big mat on the kids pool a couple of times and a few other small activities there is nothing for kids to do. Unless you want to pay! In 3 years I have never heard of the climbing wall etc being used. It seems the theme days have disappeared too!! Food We didn't go all inclusive as having seen the food available in previous years we decided to go self catering again. Thankfully we did as anyone I spoke too said the food was shocking!!! I witnessed the chef at the barbecue (23/08/2015) pick up raw chicken then immediately serve people cooked chicken with the same utensils......... Disgusting. Are the staff properly trained? From what I have heard the hotel is changing to all inclusive only..... I think this is a very bad move. This will seriously effect local trade as the area is already very quite. This can only make it worse! WIFI 25 Euros per week and is useless. I had a 14 day pass and only had a few days use from it. I contacted reception at least a 8 times and the problem was never resolved. UNNACCEPTABLE Summary I could go on and on about this place however the bottom line is that this year’s expensive family holiday was completely ruined by returning to the Sol Lanzarote. The experience was frankly UNNACCEPTABLE and I will never ever return to this hotel. I will be making contact directly with Melia over these issues also. Alvaro. You have my details. Contact me. I want a full refund!!!
