How long is the flight to Playa de Jandía?
Flights from the UK & Ireland to Fuerteventura take around 4 to 4.5 hours. Playa de Jandía and Morro Jable are at the southern tip of the island, about 80-85km from the airport, so allow around 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes for the transfer. It's the furthest resort from the airport on Fuerteventura, but the drive down the coast is scenic.
Is Playa de Jandía good for families?
Is Playa de Jandía good for families?
Really good. Playa del Matorral is a long, calm family beach with lifeguards in season, and Morro Jable is a safe, walkable town. The turtle nursery at the harbour is a free activity kids love, and Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura is 20 minutes away. Hotels like Occidental Jandía Playa and Iberostar Playa Gaviotas have excellent kids' facilities.
What's the difference between Playa de Jandía and Morro Jable?
What's the difference between Playa de Jandía and Morro Jable?
They're essentially the same area. Morro Jable is the town — the old fishing village, harbour, shops and restaurants. Playa de Jandía is the long beach that stretches east from the town. Most hotels are along this beach strip. When people say "Jandía holidays" they usually mean both the beach and Morro Jable town.
Do I need a car?
Do I need a car?
Not for daily life — the beach and Morro Jable town are walkable from most hotels. But for exploring the island (Cofete, Betancuria, Corralejo), a car opens everything up. The drive to Cofete beach via the dirt track is an adventure in itself.
How do I get to Cofete beach?
How do I get to Cofete beach?
By car or 4x4 tour. From Morro Jable, it's about 30-40 minutes via a winding dirt road through the mountains (passable in a normal hire car, but slow going). Organised Jeep safaris run daily and are a brilliant option if you'd rather not tackle the road yourself.
