We travel around with our two children as digital nomads and occasionally stay in hotels when we are between places to live. After meeting a great 'animadora' called Sandra through friends, we decided to stay at the Palace in January and then again in April. We have been in Spain for 4 months and during that time we have been learning Spanish. The staff were always patient and willing to chat which was great for our language practice! In 6 days Carolina gave me an amazing new haircut, Raquel a great workout, Sergio tasty cocktails. Manuel you work so hard morning and night! Patrice and the other entertainers had us in stitches with their charmingly kitch entertainment. The children felt safe to explore the grounds, made loads of friends and never wanted to come out of the kids club thanks to Laura and Andrea. While all of this was going on we continued to work using the hotel wifi in the adequately sized and fitted room. This is a very reasonably priced hotel my opinion.

We stayed on a self-catering basis. The cooking facilities/equipment were basic, but enough to prepare a simple breakfast or snack. We were on the 7th floor. There are 4 lifts so no problems there. There is a steep hill up from the beach, but the hotel provides a bookable free minibus hire. You can also miss out the 2nd hill by coming back through the car park. There is also a 2nd path marked "to the beach" which is much more accessible. For security, the gate closes at 8pm. The room was of a studio type, I think classed as having 2 bedrooms - there were no doors, so not really suitable if you are travelling with a group of friends and want more privacy! The bedroom ceilings sloped quite steeply, causing a couple of bumped heads. The hotel was very clean, and we loved the indoor pool. There seemed to be plenty of sunbeds around the outdoor pool. Drinks prices were not too bad. We did not try the food as we were visiting family who live in the area. All in all, we would recommend this hotel.

Stayed for nine nights. Booked a two bedroom apartment 10 months ago but were sent to a one bedroom (awful room above reception) and had to go and find out where our other bedroom had gone. We felt that they were trying to be sneaky and thought we wouldn't notice the lack of a bedroom.. particularly annoying as we'd emailed a few days before requesting high floor so they knew we had booked two bedroom. We were told they were overbooked and would have a two bedroom ready the next day. Not ideal but as we had nine nights so not too bad. Offered free safe for duration of holiday and one free lunch as compensation which we felt was good enough. We heard of other families that booked a two bedroom having longer to wait in a one bedroom so something to consider if you book this accommodation, I believe there are only four available so probably a regular occurance. Once in the two bedroom it was wonderful. Loads of space. It also has two full bathrooms. Large balcony with view of the mountains. Maid came daily to do beds and bins. Think we had it cleaned properly once. Anyway, apart from that, this is a great family hotel. Lots of great facilities. Indoor pool great but it's a 150cm depth so not really for young children unless good swimmers. Outdoor pool lovely setting but water very cold in April. Nice little garden area with sunbeds if you want to sunbathe away from pool. Kids club great, my daughter went there a few times. Only tried the night time entertainment once, felt that having it at 10/10.30pm was a little late for kids, we saw a magic man who seemed to be geared towards kids but didn't actually start until 10.30pm. Gym was good and there was yoga, zumba etc offered if you wanted it. Nice big arcade for kids with most games €1. Food was great. Excellent value. Loads of choice. Full english if you wanted it for breakfast but also healthy stuff - cereals, fruit etc. Pastries and cakes galore. Good freshly squeezed OJ. Coffee machines offering all the usuals. Dinner had lots of meat cooked in front of you. Fillets of chicken and steak. Lovely roast pork. Fish. Paella. Great salad selection. Kids buffet with fish fingers, nuggets etc. Always pizza. Puddings a bit sickly but loads of choice. Drinks fairly priced. Location of the hotel wasn't great. Close to the beach but you had to cross major duel carriageway. Beach OK. Shingly. Couldn't see a life guard at all but maybe because of the time of year? Long walk to Marina, may be a bit much for small children. Felt a bit ambushed by sellers along the way. 'Dia' supermarket (like Aldi, Lidl) just down the pink path (turn right at the exit to indoor pool then left). Supersol supermarket a bit further along past the garage. We caught the bus to Malaga, 45 minutes, cost €6 each way total for four of us. Lovely place to wander around. Also visited Benalmadena Pueblo. Stunning, must see! And the cable car up the mountain is amazing. There is a bird of prey show at the top twice a day so time it right to see that.

This was my third visit to Benalmadena, having stayed at the Torrequebrada and Puerto Marina on the previous occasions. The one redeeming feature of this hotel was the children's entertainment team - Patrice and Laura were fantastic and are a credit to the organisation. Unfortunately we were given room 200 which is directly next to the children's games/arcade room and open until 11.45 pm. Next to this is the hotel bar which is open until the early hours and both rooms are located on a landing area with lifts and vending machines. Consequently, it is impossible to sleep much before 2am due to unbearable noise levels through the wall and echoing down the corridor. Having not slept for our first 2 nights (myself and a 6 year old), I enquired whether it would be possible to be moved for this very genuine reason - we were exhausted. Unfortunately, I was informed that the hotel was actually overbooked and heard that a number of people had actually needed to be accommodated in the hotel next door upon their arrival - I was therefore told that this would not be possible. We therefore endured our stay rather than enjoyed it and I will not return or recommend this establishment for this reason (more so because there was no effort made to help). I would suggest that anyone who is given room 200 upon arrival refuses it before they are potentially stuck with it! We will return to the Mac Puerto Marina for our next stay, where the rooms are much better situated and there is a greater level of customer care.
