Just returned from 10 day fully inclusive at the Calella Palace with my family and what a time....the hotel is not a 4star but a 3 at most, the staff need some tlc, the bedrooms are ok however the walls are very thin and you can hear everything in the next room, above and below, if you fart...they will hear it and vice- versa. Don't expect a good night sleep.. So take ear plugs. We asked for "quieter rooms"- they put us on the 6th floor facing the back of the hotel which did the job...also good view of the town...As per the other reviews you have to pay for internet, you get 15mins free every other day, my advise is to go Burger King or McDolands down the road and they have wifi. You have to pay for the use of the safe in the room at 5 euros/day...not expecting that! The food was fab, different varieties, plenty of pork, chicken salads and desserts...however if you are a veggi then issues. Most of the "vegetarian" dishes include fish. Drinks were good too always in plastic glasses to avoid breakages. The question is would we go there again....NO...but to a different hotel as Calella is a beautiful town and lots to see and do. The beach is fab-plenty of room.

Had booked a family room with twin beds for 3 adults and 1 child however on arrival was put in small cramped room with two double beds. When I politely asked to be moved I was told the hotel was over booked and no other room was available until Sunday. Hotel is clean and pleasant so decided to put up with till Sunday when I was told I would have to pay extra to upgrade room . When I agreed to this I was then told it was not possible as head office would not allow it ? Staff at reception were on the whole difficult and seemed stressed. Staff at bar far more agreeable and cleaning and restaurant staff very friendly and pleasant. This is a good family hotel children love it and offers good value but reception staff need help

I was a bit concerned when this turned out to be the hotel allocated on a 'roulette' deal with Teletext and was even more concerned reading the reviews. However, for the money I paid, it was very good value. It is a typical beach resort 4* hotel. If you want the Savoy, you have to pay Savoy prices! If you want everyone to speak English, holiday in England, if you can't speak Spanish, why do you expect them to speak English, and shouting at them or talking to them as if there are morons does not help, was embarrassed by the behaviour of the Brits abroad at times! The food was excellent, a wide variety and it never ran out! The pool areas were clean, the main one being crowded but what do you expect in the summer holidays. The rooftop terrace was fantastic. The smaller pool area was great providing you got a sunbed. The downside was the queuing at peak times for a drink, more bar staff needed. Don't go for the entertainment if you are over the age of 12! The rooms were spacious and clean, bedding and towels changed every other day. We asked for more towels and they were in our room by the time we had eaten dinner. Noisy in corridors in the mornings but meant we didn't miss breakfast by over sleeping. Perfectly nice for our week away. Better for families.

I recently stayed here with my mum for 5 nights. If I could give 2.5 I would, as I feel average is too generous but poor is too harsh. We arrived early hours Monday morning (13th July) along with 3 other couples from our flight, we were last to check in so had the chance to observe the service given. The man was rude and abrupt to one couple who didn't want to leave their passports overnight. As we didn't mind leaving our passports the service was quick but not much information was provided, maybe this was because it was late. The room was a good size, a bit dated but clean and comfortable enough. The bed covers had a few cigarette burns in but I'm not that fussy so just ignored it, but to give an overall insight I'm including it in my review. All inclusive had finished for the night so we went out and found a bar close by to wind down after a long days travelling. The hotel is in good walking distance to the centre with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants around. The next day having been given our all inclusive cards we went for our first meal, breakfast, which I could not fault, very nice and lots of choice. Having read bad reviews about the food I was concerned that it wouldn't be up to much. But In fact, every meal we had was lovely. Lots of choice and freshly cooked stuff too, sardines, turkey, burgers, chicken griddled fresh for you. The pool was a nice size but very busy and loud, large groups of students of all nationalities being the main source of noise. One day we moved from the main pool to the rooftop terrace to sunbathe and read as we kept getting hit with a wet football and splashed from people jumping in. The rooftop terrace is possibly the hotels little gem, peaceful, always a bed available and 3 lovely jacuzzis. The bar man there on the day we were up there was by far the best. He was actually happy to be there. As for the bar staff downstairs, rude, arrogant and miserable. It was like they begrudged giving you a drink! Not one cracked a smile at any point! All local spirits, you had to pay a supplement for branded spirits and bottled lager. I struggled to find something I enjoyed drinking which is not like me!!! There was supposedly a murder in the hotel on the Saturday before we arrived so possibly this is the reason for the staffs poor moods. A pleasant enough stay especially for the price but I would not give it a 4* no chance.
