I was a bit worried about going to this hotel as I had read bad reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were 3 of us in a self catering apartment, the beds were comfy , we had english tv, heating and a very good shower. The resort was lovely , we could'nt fault anything.Check in was 5pm but we were given the keys at 1pm which made all the difference. I would suggest that you take a teatowel and a dish cloth. The sheets and towels were changed after 3 days, which was more than sufficient. We will definitely be going back.

Booking in was very good friendly and efficient we knew check in would be 5pm but were pleased that they had the apartment ready 2hrs before so that was fine, we paid 32 euros which included the Spain Tourist Tax for 2 weeks for a safe deposit box which was located in reception with a 10 euro refund on return of key, we also decided as it was winter to pay for extra channels on the TV this gets cheaper the more days you book so for 2 weeks it was 35 euro's, this rate goes from 5 euro's a day to 19 for a week etc. The apartment was on the 3rd floor of a block of about 9 next to the main hotel, no lifts, so be aware of this if you book. The living area was OK, compact, easy to do breakfast and tea's the equipment did not have a toaster so if you like toast for breakfast it would be easy to buy one in one of the numerous chinese shops in the near area for about 15 euro's the housekeeping was every 3 days and clean towels, if required, where given if you placed the used ones in the bath, we decided to remove our own rubbish and took this down on our way out to a camouflaged bin not far from the building, the bedroom did not have any drawer facilities just a large wardrobe with plenty of space we asked for more coat hangers and they arrived promptly no side lights in the room the beds where clean and comfortable. The lounge had a table and chairs for 4 and a bed settee this had to be the most uncomfortable thing to sit on the the entire 2 weeks, a sideboard where you will find the cups/saucers and glasses and a large modern flat screen tv, the whole warmed by the air conditioning unit there was also a free standing heater in the bedroom which we unplugged, having read other reports we had taken our own travel kettle and tea-towels we used the supermarket across the road from the complex as we found this to be reasonable and it did stock quite a few English food's there was also a Hot Counter where you could buy various meats and pasta's, pies and cooked chickens. The room overlooked the pool area and was a huge place it is indeed a Resort and they seem to encourage various sporting clubs to use it we did not come across the football club mentioned in a recent report but we encountered cyclists, runners and other sporting young people of many nationalities all where well behaved over the 2 weeks. We had one rainy day and tried out the restaurant, you can purchase meals separately, and we paid 10 euro's for a 3 course buffet we found the restaurant well laid out, it is huge and appears well managed and the food was good so we decided to give it another try, lunch was at 1pm by 10 past the young athletes had blitzed the restaurant and the food was almost cleared all bar the scrapings !! to be fair it was replaced at the staffs leisure, we did not try the evening meals far to late to eat for us at 8pm..... The bus stop to Benidorm and opposite to Altea is 1.50 euro's each, if you want a free trip, the only company that picks up in Albir is RoundTown Tours the one selling trips at the Wed Market does not go to Albir, Albir itself is quite a nice little town, plenty of shop's and was quite busy for the winter it is not so manic as Benidorm the sea front pleasant with a stony beach, you can, if fit and up for it, walk along the front into Altea, both these towns have very good markets, the Albir one is on a Sunday morning on the road down to the beach and Altea is on a Tuesday stay on the bus to the terminus and you will see the market in front of you. We have given this a rating of very good because we think we had value for money the staff where very nice but we would say that in some area's we would rate it as average, if we decided to visit this area again we would possibly consider using this resort in the winter for self catering. We hope this report gives travellers a good idea of what you may encounter..

This was our 5th visit and we were looking forward to it after some pleasant visits. We were very disappointed. When we boked in we were told that stand price is now ONLY for the separate houses in the grounds; not the main building. These houses were full of some 200 young footballers from many countries who were there for the week and behaved extremely badly. After our concerns we were put into the main building but facing the road (facing the pool where we have stayed before is now even more expensive!) and just above the bar so we still had the footballers noise all evening until after midnight. We will not be visiting the Albir Garden Resort again

We chose the Albir Garden for great cost, ideal self-catering place to stay. It is very basic but clean. Dated furniture. Great shower though. Lovely indoor swimming pool which you must locate under-neath the reception area. Fantastic views of the "Sleeping Lion" Mountains and up into Polop from the poolside. Great shop located directly opposite where you can purchase absolutely everything from Spanish to all kinds of English branded food goods. Lovely hot freshly roasted chickens can be brought from there also. Great restaurants near by and a lovely 10 minute walk down to the Beautiful Albir sea front with its gorgeous turquoise colour ocean and outstanding quality sea air. A lovely 6 days we spent here and wish to return very soon to Albir resort. (November) This is not ideal for anyone who wants the Benidorm madness!! But a 12 minute bus-ride will get you there and the bus stop is directly at the front of the Hotel. I do feel that this hotel needs a upgrade. Quite dated but for the low-cost for the 2 of us I will not complain.
Albir's summer temperatures soar to 40° Celsius, and it's never exactly cool here - so pack your Factor 30 whenever you're coming, even January can be above 20° Celsius. The lush, warm breezes from the Med ensure that you're never sweltering, and if you're too hot, just stay in your hotel for a dip in the swimming pool instead!
