My husband and I visited with another couple at the end of March. All of us first time visitors to go a, we loved it! Ok, so the hotel is not 5 star luxury, but it doesn't claim to be! It is a little dated but the ambience and charm of the place are real bonuses. We had superior rooms e3 & e4, superb location, cleaned daily, bathroom tired looking but clean and usable. The pool area is small but we walked the few minutes walk down the track to the beach every day, real value for money at the big blue shack where we spent most of our days (lush food here too!) The staff at ASR are truly fantastic, so helpful, friendly and can not do enough for you. The food is fab, if you want something cooked for you, it's no problem, the flavours are incredible. We would recommend the Italian restaurant right outside the entrance, Tuscany, lovely food, setting, service etc, if you fancy a change from curries! My husband had a suit made and I had a dress, from the tailor on site, we were both thrilled with the quality, service and amazing value! Raj's jewellery shop on site is definitely worth a visit too! All in all, we had an amazing holiday, loved goa, loved candolim, loved ASR. Would we return to this hotel? Without doubt!!!

We stayed towards the end of February, when the weather in Goa is still on the pleasant side. Do insist for the rooms on the first floor. There is not much to do within the hotel premises, besides lazying around the swimming pool. However, the walk to the beach is just about 3-4 minutes and there is a beaten path leading to the beach from the rear gate of the hotel. We spent most of our time at the beach and had food at the numerous beach shacks. During our stay, the hotel was mostly occupied by groups of elderly gentlemen and ladies from abroad mostly vacationing on their longstays in Goa. Overall, the rooms were basic but clean. Candolim is one of the better beaches to relax as well as is in proximity to North Goa, where one can enjoy other activities as well. Aldeia Santa Rita offers a decent option to stay at Candolim amidst Vivanta by Taj (where one can stay) and Kingfisher Villa (where one can't stay). Spoilers: The room service is virtually non-existent and do not expect great food in the breakfast / dinner. We had requested for an early check-in a couple of days earlier which was confirmed, but were denied the same when we reached the hotel. We didn't bother much as we hit the beach rightaway.

We checked in was shown to our rooms. 1. All windows had frosting on, this meant no view at all. When I told the gentleman that showed us to our room the towels where stained and dirty he said no they are not and off he went 2. 3 choices on lunch menu as I am allergic to fish and eggs I could not eat any of it and was not offered anything else 3. Back to rooms. They where horrible not like holiday rooms at all I have never seen anything like it before. We where very lucky and got moved after a few phone calls to Virgin. Can't believe they put us there

We have recently returned home after an amazing all inclusive holiday at the Aldeia Santa Rita and didn’t want to leave. We can only echo what others have written. Our room was clean, comfortable and we wanted for nothing… many thanks Sunhil you looked after us well. The food was delicious so thank you chefs for your very tasty curries and many other dishes. (loved our poppadums) There was also nightly entertainment which we hadn’t expected.. Also have to mention in or out of the hotel there was no pressure to buy and you could enter shops and browse, unlike countries like Egypt. I have to recommend the little beauty shop too, I had the only ever massage I’ve benefitted from. I have arthritis and she was finding problem areas without being told. Well impressed. What really makes this hotel is the staff who go out of their way to look after you… if you’re reading this, thank you all for making our holiday. We love the cosy feel of this hotel and hope if it’s updated they will retain the same style, modern would spoil it. We’d return tomorrow if we could but we will return sometime, can’t wait.

Tourist Information

Weather

You'll never need winter-warmers in Goa - even at New Year the temperatures here are well above 20° Celsius, soaring to 35° Celsius in mid-May. Sunscreen, anyone?

The best time to go on holidays to Candolim is from September until May - Goa is more or less out of bounds during it's monsoon season in the summer, but apart from that there's practically never any rain either!
