Steigenberger Alcazar is a five-star deluxe resort in Nabq Bay, spread across 35,000 square metres of its own private beachfront on the Red Sea. It is a big site, laid out in low-rise clusters through gardens, with buggies running around it, so ask for a room near whichever you care about most: the beach, the adults-only pool or the main buffet.

The draw here is the water. The shore is shallow reef rather than swimming sand, and the hotel's long jetty runs out over it to deeper water, which is where the snorkelling is and why the diving centre is on site rather than a drive away. Three pools, all heated through the winter, and one of them is adults-only.

Seven restaurants, two of them main buffets and five à la carte, and an ultra all-inclusive package that covers the lot within limits worth reading before you book.

How far is the nearest beach?

The hotel is on the beach. Its 35,000 square metres of private beachfront run the length of the resort, with a jetty out to the deeper water for swimming and snorkelling.

Rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished. You can opt for a Superior Room with the option of a swim-up design, a Deluxe Family Room also available as a swim-up, an Executive, Deluxe or Royal Suite, some with a private pool and perfect for a romantic couples stay, or a Villa with a private pool overlooking the vividly blue seascape. General facilities include air conditioning, a safety deposit box, direct dial telephone (extra charge), hairdryer, cosmetic mirror, a minibar and tea and coffee facilities.

Food & Drink

There is a choice of bars and dining venues on-site to keep you refreshed from morning to evening. Rihanna is the hotel’s main restaurant, serving an opulent buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner. For special sit-down dinners, you can also dine at one of the a la carte venues, including Hama Japanese restaurant, Limoni Italian restaurant, Amoura Lebanese restaurant, Sanafir seafood restaurant or La Maison Mediterranean restaurant. For drinks, you can visit either Marha or Cazar Lobby Bars, the Amouora or Almaza pool bars, or the Sanafir Beach Bar.

Sports & Entertainment

You’ll find a selection of three swimming pools at the hotel, with two separate kids pools. For those who enjoy lazy days by the sea, the hotel has its very own private stretch of beach just a short walk away. There are also two kids clubs at the hotel and a range of sports facilities including a floodlit tennis court (extra charges may apply), water aerobics, darts, yoga, mini football, beach volleyball, a diving centre (extra charge) and watersports locally (extra charge).
