I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend for 2 weeks and had a great time. The hotel is spotless and all of the staff are really friendly and polite. We checked in late our flight was an afternoon flight and the process was quick and easy. We were directed to the bar for a drink and a ham and cheese toasty which was really appreciated. Our room was on the 3rd floor and facing inland, this wasn't an issue for us as we didn't spend much time in there anyway. The room itself was clean and tidy, nice comfy bed and plenty of wardrobe space but take hangers as you only get about 4 from the hotel. The bathroom although a little dated was always clean and everything worked so no complaints there. The communal areas of the hotel are always immaculate and seem to be getting cleaned constantly. The restaurants are all good with a decent selection of fresh food, breakfast is great and the staff are always happy to see you. Lunch and dinner are served in a different restaurant and there's a good selection of local dishes as well as international foods on offer, there's also a grill counter with a chef cooking things for you on there. Deserts are awesome, the ice cream is fantastic! The pool is spotless and there are plenty of sun beds but my god they are not very comfy! During the day the bars serve drinks and snacks so there's plenty to keep your energy up. The hotel is a 40 minute walk from Protaras so be prepared for that, we used to get cabs which cost 8 euros each way and took about 10 minutes. The resort of Penera is however still nice with a selection of bars and shops but it is fairly small and quiet. The evening entertainment is good if that's your thing but we went out most nights. The hotel does however seem to do a lot of weddings and during our stay there were a couple of locals getting married and the guests including their rowdy kids seem to take over the pool on the Saturday and Sunday. One thing I will say about he hotel that was a shame was the rude arrogant Russians that think it is acceptable to just push in at the bar and when getting food.. They also let their children run riot around the pool but I suppose that's not the fault of the hotel. We had a great time at tis hotel but there are also some great places to eat near by, we loved Sizzlers which is about 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Oh there's also a shop within the lobby that sells sun cream, English papers and drinks and snacks too.

We had a great vacation here and it's in part due to the hotel's excellent location by the small bay. Sandy shallow beach with warm water, can't ask for anything better! I think we will seriously consider coming back here in two years, but in the family suite (see below). The grade should be 4.5 but I'm giving a five because we had an excellent time without any real problems. There are a number of areas in which the hotel is punching above its three star category. The interior (lobby, bar areas) and the pool are superb. You can tell that someone thought about maximizing the use of space in the rooms. There are no bulky makeup chairs, everything feels functional, and air conditioning works as it should. The safe was free and fully operational. The service was excellent and we felt very welcome. The food was exactly at the three star level, tasty but with limited choices. The fish for lunch was a bit repetitive but very tasty. There were always other grill options, though. The entertainment was ok, and there was an option just for kids in the morning and afternoon, giving the parents a welcome breather. The promenade by the sea was an unexpected benefit. It's so nice to walk by the sea around sunset and later at night. Our tour operator messed up our reservation and dropped the afternoon stay option, but luckily the hotel provided a courtesy changing and shower room below ground. We highly appreciated this! The hotel is weighed down somewhat by idiosyncrasies. We didn't like the bunk beds in the medium size (2+2) room. The hotel did their best to offer us a family suite but we decided not to take it as that unit didn't have sea view we paid for. We blame our tour operator for getting us into this situation. In the end we used the folding chair to hold the top mattress and had a lovely, albeit cramped stay. Wi-Fi works but kicks you out often and the internet link is slow. A ton of people sitting by the pool trying to surf doesn't help but that's how it is To make things worse, 3g coverage by the cell operators is flaky as well. We quickly and happily gave up on frequently checking email, but wanted to be able to upload more than a handful of photos. We didn't appreciate the angled cobblestone stairs on the way to the beach. I hope they will be replaced by proper stairs asap. It was bizarre asking people to pay for ice-coffee on the all inclusive plan. We gave up the right to drink alcohol to get free ice-coffee. Bottled water is also an extra but there is a very thoughtful water fountain with cold and room temperature water by the pool, so that takes care of that problem.
