Just back from a short break at the Costa Adele Gran Hotel. Upgraded from Senior Suite to Royal Suite on checking in. Great start to the holiday. My room had 4 balconies, 2 double rooms with dressing areas, seating areas, an bathrooms with double sinks, jacuzzi bath and shower. Each room was in a different side of the hotel. They were separated by a large entrance hall which led into a massive dining room and living room area. The suite had more furniture than Ikea. We had 3 Plasma TV's and were even supplied with a tablet to use whilst we were there. The tablet allowed us to order room service, special pillows, mini bar items, turn down service, room cleaning. It had a few teething problems but its only being trialled and the software is a work in progress. The general wifi in the hotel was poor. No signal at all around the pool areas or even on our balcony. Indoors the wifi was good and rarely cut out. We were on an all inclusive board. We had breakfast once and didn't find it was value for money. Very little we liked and it seemed more orientated towards German guests. Lunch was a hit and miss too. The food was either slow in being cooked or what was there was always lukewarm. A number of guests were overheard moaning about the cold food too. Near the end of the week they started a BBQ at lunchtime. Lunch service began and nearly 30 minutes later the BBQ food was put on. There was no meat dishes inside due to the BBQ but it was never ready. The choices at lunchtime were also limited. The evening meals were good. There was a pasta station where chefs made your pasta in front of you with whatever pasta, ingredients etc you wanted. Always a queue. There was a similar area for meat and a fish one too. Biggest queue of all. If I'm honest the food overall was not 5 star quality. It wasn't even 4 star. The service was always good in the restaurant. Ask for a glass of wine and you get a bottle. The hotel itself is stunning from the outside. I can only review my room and it was faultless. We had builders outside our room the entire week painting and plastering. All day. There is a lot of cracks around the hotel and it needs the work done. No complaints re this. It needs to get done. The reception staff were first class. Very polite, helpful, and eager to please. The main reception area is massive. Would i go back? Yes. Hoping to go back soon for another short break. Some aspects of the hotel are 5 star. The food and buffet restaurant let it down. The food was average at best but still decent enough that it won't spoil your holiday. I didn't complain whilst there and felt the overall experience was good enough that a complaint wasn't merited. However for my review i feel its only fair that i share my opinion of the food and that it isn't 5 star quality.

The hotel had wonderful staff but the standard of the hotel was far from 5 stars. The buffet for the all-inclusive was badly planned which resulted in long waiting times and sometimes even bad food. When complaining about the bad food we we´re informed that the food wasn´t even made at the hotel, but came delivered pre made - which if you ask me isn´t what you expect when booking a 5 star hotel. The all-inclusive list of drinks only contained one or two drinks and the rest was at same price rate as for everyone else. Disappointing.

Costa Adeje holiday mean sun, and lots of it! The temperature here doesn't vary too much, with winter lows circa 15 to 20° Celsius, and summer highs nearing 30° Celsius. There's not much rain either, so if you want to get wet, dive into the pool or the warm Atlantic waters!
