First I must say this hotel complex isn't to the same standard as a Thomson 4 star platinum hotel we stayed at a few weeks ago in Majorca but for the money we paid it was fantastic value for money. We booked this hotel through Alpharooms at a great price. After a short 10 minute taxi ride we arrived at the hotel around midnight and were swiftly booked in by a very helpful gentleman on reception who told us that we were in the best hotel in the complex which was Copacabana in room 110. On going into our room we were surprised at how spacious it was, it had 2 single beds for our 2 girls partially divided off and twin beds for us and a nice big balcony which had 2 chairs but no table, and had a view overlooking the mini golf and a distant view of the sea. The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained and was kept that way by the chamber maid. We all slept very well as this was the quieter part of the complex. We dined at the Copacabana restaurant for breakfast and evening meal. We found the food to be of a very good standard with plenty of variety with things like chicken, pork and fish being cooked fresh in front of your eyes every evening and I must say that we have all come home carrying a few more pounds in weight than when we got there. We had lunch in the Acapulco restaurant which was also very nice and tasty but was all pre cooked on a self service buffet which could be busy at times but we always found a table even when busy. On top of this if you were still hungry there was a snack bar in side the Hawaii block where you could make yourself cheese and ham toasties, burgers, chips, etc and ice cream and a barbeque from 12.30 to 3.30 which barbeques chicken, fish or pork chop. 1 of the above featured daily. Also there were freshly baked pizzas there as well. Drinks were served in plastic cups which is a must with people walking about bare footed 2 drinks per person served at the bar there were also soft drinks which you could help yourself to including coke and slushies. You could find yourself queuing but the queues were dealt with very quickly by hard working efficient bar staff and it could be quite noisy at times but this never bothered us. The swimming pools were great and there's a nice shallow one for the little ones which our girls loved up by the barbeque area. The entertainment at night was mixed but try not to miss Phantom show on Wednesday which was juggling and dancing etc which wouldn't be out of place in any posh venue. Our kids enjoyed the mini disco which was on 6 nights a week. We would like to thank Patrick and the staff for making our 9 night stay very enjoyable and we are looking forward to coming back next year. If you book this hotel just remember how little you are paying for what you are receiving, if you want the Ritz, pay for the Ritz but if you want a cheap getaway this may be for you but bear in mind that British people are in the minority and the place has many young Spanish and Germans amongst the nationalities, this didn't bother us in the slightest as we feel like we are abroad hearing all the different lingo. The beach is only a 5 minute walk and it is a fantastic beach and promenade, also you can catch the no 15 bus which goes to C'an Pastilla for a quieter night out should you want one and Palma for €1.50.

The hotel we had in the complex was probably the best one and most spacious room wise, The Copacabana with a room on the first floor (115). This is one of the superior rooms with 2 single beds and 2 pull out beds. The room was clean, tidy and functional although the bed was rather firm and smallish for me personally, then again I am a large lad so I wont hold it against them ;) The balcony was large but thee was no table to go with the 2 chairs out there, best of all though is that from after mid-day the sun was on the balcony until it set @19:30'ish and scorchingly hot at times :o) The buffet style food was acceptable, much of it not really to my tastes but again they have to cater for many tastes and there is something for everyone. The area is very 'German' other than the Spanish but its no problem. The Brits tend to go further round the headland to Magaluf - say no more, none of that was experienced in El Aranel. Outside areas are good, pools are well maintained (a few tiles have seen better days) and kept clean. The centre pool is the best for catching the sun for most of the day so that's where we spent our time. The beach front is 5 mins walk downhill and there's plenty of shops and restaurants around for everyone. I would go back with no hesitation if I could get the same hotel block, the other hotel blocks are not so spacious and are somewhat noisier from what other residents mentioned. It is a great family hotel and one for younger as well as older people, its not one for a honeymoon or romantic stay for sure.

Having read the reviews on this hotel after we booked I have to say I was absolutely dreading it. I've read tales of horrendously broken tiles, raw food, roaches as big as minis and hotel rooms you couldn't swing a cat in breath in and can just about sleep in. So I will write my review at face value. Hotel: we stayed the Copacabanna building had a room in the first floor. The room had a bath room a double bed a flat screen television on the wall and a decent size balcony. Television was pretty pointless as it was in Spanish or German and didn't have a remote control. There was no kettle. The view from our room looked out to an abandoned house and bin sheds and the cleaning equipment garage and the delivery gates. There were also some dogs in the building opposite that liked to bark loudly and regular intervals. Room was cleaned daily beds made or changed and towels changed regularly. The hotel complex is set on top of a massive steep hill and very hilly in the complex. I read reviews about dangerous cracked tiles and shoddy maintenance but I have to say that I saw the occasional broken tile out of the gazillion tiles and the odd bit of flakey paint work. Facilities there are 5 pools suitable for children and adults. Life guards working constantly during opening hours. They are very vigilant and do a good job. Probably because the parents with small children prefer to upload selfies than actually watching their drowning children.there is a games room and mini golf a park and the entertainment team try and drag you up for aqua aerobics darts and volley ball. Plenty of comfortable sunbeds. Food. All meal times were well catered for. Always something nice hot and fresh to eat. View cook at dinner time fresh steak or chicken. Plenty of cakes fruit and salad. Meals were slightly repetitive but again always hot. Bread and rolls always fresh. At 12.30 - 3.30 every day they have a bbq and a pizzeria near the Copacabanna pool area. Fresh burgers chicken and steaks and beautiful fresh baked pizzas. Soft drinks and slushies are served from self service machines and all bars and there is also an indoor stack bar that is open all day hot and cold buffet snacks. The hotel is without a doubt for the Germans and they turn up daily by the coach load. It is also for visiting Spanish underage teenagers who also arrive by the coach load. There must of been about 400 there at anyone time and yes they are rude but just ignore them. Night time bar is always heaving and every seat taken but the staff work super hard and limit to 2 drinks per person. Yes drinks are served in plastic cups and so they should be with small barefoot children running around. In life you get what you pay for and my experience here was a nice one that I really can't complain about. Lovely tan and about a stone heavier 😃
Sun lovers should head on holidays to El Arenal in July and August as the temperatures are at their highest during these peak months. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas on the beaches if you need some shade when the Mediterranean sun gets a bit too much. Temperatures in the winter months are in around 20 ° Celsius so bring some warm clothing for the evenings. Regardless, there's still plenty of sun and blue skies on El Arenal holidays!
