• 🏖️ Spend a day on Monte Gordo beach - one of the widest beaches in the Algarve, with soft golden sand, warm shallow waters, and lifeguards in summer. It's backed by pine woods and there are beach bars and restaurants along the promenade. The kind of beach where you can properly spread out.

• 🦩 Visit the Sapal Nature Reserve - the marshlands behind Monte Gordo are a protected nature reserve, home to flamingos, storks and wading birds. There are walking and cycling trails through the reserve, and it's completely free. A lovely change of pace from the beach.

• 🏰 Day trip to Castro Marim - just 10 minutes inland, this small town has a medieval castle with panoramic views over the marshlands and across to Spain. The castle hosts a Medieval Days festival every summer, with jousting, markets and performances. Great for kids and history fans.

• 🌅 Walk the boardwalk at sunset - Monte Gordo's seafront promenade is a lovely evening stroll, with the beach on one side and restaurants and bars on the other. Time it for sunset and you'll see why this stretch of coast has such a loyal following.
