🎒 Laganas Travel Guide

Things to Do in Laganas for Families 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Laganas might be famous for its party scene, but there's loads for families too – especially if you love wildlife and beach days. 🐢

The Little Farm 🐐 – An adorable family treat nestled in Laganas' olive groves. Kids can meet, feed, and cuddle animals like ducklings, ponies, tortoises, and goats. They even do birthday parties if you're celebrating something special. Proper cute and the kids will love it.

Turtle spotting boat trips 🐢 – Glass-bottom boat tours leave from Agios Sostis port (20-minute walk from Laganas Beach) where you can spot loggerhead turtles in their natural habitat. The kids will be proper buzzing when they see one swimming underneath. Book early as they're popular.

Cameo Island walk 🏝️ – A 20-minute wander along the beach takes you to a wooden bridge that crosses to this tiny private island. It's got a beach bar, sunbeds, and gorgeous coves – plus the kids love the adventure of walking across the bridge. Great for photos too.

Things to Do in Laganas for Couples 💑

Laganas isn't all about the party – there's romance here too, especially if you time things right. ❤️

Sunset boat trip 🌅 – Book a private boat trip or join a sunset tour around the coast. You'll get swimming stops at secluded coves, drinks on board, and those Instagrammable sunset views over the Ionian Sea. Proper romantic stuff.

Visit Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach) ⛵ – Only accessible by boat, this is Greece's most iconic beach with white cliffs, turquoise water, and that famous rusted shipwreck on the sand. It's absolutely stunning and makes for unforgettable memories (and photos). Book a tour from Laganas – totally worth it.

Dinner away from the Strip 🍷 – Head to the quieter tavernas in nearby Kalamaki or the backstreets of Laganas for romantic dinners with traditional Greek food, local wine, and a chilled atmosphere. Way more intimate than the main strip.

Things to Do in Laganas for Groups 🥳

Right, this is where Laganas properly shines. If you're here with your mates, you're in the right place. 🍻

The Laganas Strip 🎉 – The legendary 2km stretch of bars, clubs, and absolute carnage. Zeros Club, Rescue Club, Cocktails & Dreams – they're all here and they go until dawn. Pre-drink at the bars, then hit the clubs. You know the drill.

Laganas Boat Party ⛵ – This is the big one. Five hours on a cruiser around the coast with DJs, free drinks, swimming stops, and an afterparty at a superclub when you get back. It's messy, it's memorable, and it's basically mandatory if you're in Laganas with the lads (or ladies). Book it early – it sells out.

Rent a speedboat 🚤 – Split the cost between your group (usually €20-30 per person) and you get a boat for 4-5 hours to explore the coast yourselves. Visit caves, pull up at hidden beaches, and pretend you're in a music video. The staff are sound and give you tips on where to go. Absolute freedom.

Things to Do in Laganas for Thrill-Seekers 🏎️

If lying on the beach isn't your vibe, Laganas has got some proper adrenaline options too.

Polaris Buggy tours 🏜️ – Off-road buggy adventures through Zante's countryside with an experienced guide. You'll conquer rough terrain, explore hidden trails, and stop at secluded coves for a swim. Gets your heart pumping.

Go-karting 🏎️ – Two tracks to choose from: "Laganas Go-Kart" in town or "Formula Zante" just outside (the biggest track on the island). Perfect for settling debates about who's the fastest driver in your group.

Water sports at nearby beaches 🏄 – You can't do water sports on Laganas Beach itself (protected turtle area), but head to nearby Banana Beach or St. Nicholas Beach for banana boats, jet skis, and other water-based chaos. Book through excursion offices on the strip or get a taxi there.

Is Laganas good for families? 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Yeah, surprisingly! While Laganas is famous for nightlife, during the day it's actually really family-friendly. The beach is shallow and safe, there's The Little Farm where kids can meet animals, turtle spotting boat trips, and Cameo Island to explore. Just book accommodation away from the main strip (the side streets are way quieter) so you're not dealing with noise at night. Nearby Kalamaki is also brilliant if you want the beach without the party atmosphere.

Can you see turtles in Laganas? 🐢

Absolutely! Laganas Beach is part of a protected marine park where endangered loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) come to nest. You can often spot them swimming near the shore – bring a snorkel mask for a better view. Glass-bottom boat tours from Agios Sostis port are brilliant for turtle spotting, or you can kayak/paddleboard over to Marathonisi (Turtle Island) where they're common. Just remember they're protected, so no touching or disturbing them.

How far is Laganas from Zakynthos Airport? ✈️

About 7km, which is roughly a 10-15 minute drive. Taxis cost around €15-20, or most of our package holidays can include transfers anyway but just in case you want to sort your own it's good to know. It's one of the closest resorts to the airport, which is handy when you're knackered after a flight (or a heavy last night out).

What's the best time to visit Laganas? ☀️

For the full party experience, July and August are peak season – hottest weather, busiest strip, everything's open and mental. June and September are slightly quieter but still buzzing with great weather (25-30°C). May and October are lovely if you want beach weather without the full party crowds.
