The Disneyland Paris Area is the Marne-la-Vallée resort 32km east of central Paris, home to Europe's most-visited theme park complex and the easiest Disney trip you'll do from the UK. Two parks (the original Disneyland Park with Sleeping Beauty Castle, plus Disney Adventure World, freshly renamed in March 2026 with the new World of Frozen at its heart), seven on-resort Disney hotels, and a clutch of nearby off-resort hotels with free shuttle buses to the gates. Most visitors come specifically for the parks, and the Paris-area positioning means a Champs-Élysées day or an Eiffel Tower morning is one RER A train ride away if anyone fancies a city day. For the wider Paris experience including hotels, sights, food and travel advice, see our main Paris page.

✨ Highlights of your Holidays to the Disneyland Paris area

  • 🏰 Two parks for the price of two: Disneyland Park is the classic Magic Kingdom layout with Sleeping Beauty Castle, and Disney Adventure World (the renamed second park, since 29 March 2026) packs in World of Frozen, Avengers Campus and Worlds of Pixar.

  • ❄️ World of Frozen, just opened: the new Arendelle-themed land debuted in March 2026 with the Frozen Ever After boat ride, a Royal Encounter meet-and-greet with Anna and Elsa, and a daytime show over Arendelle Bay. The headline draw of any 2026 Disneyland Paris trip.

  • 🚌 Free shuttles from off-resort hotels: the bookable hotels around the resort all run free shuttle buses to the park gates, typically every 15 to 30 minutes from morning through to past midnight. No car hire needed.

  • 🎢 Headliners only at Disneyland Paris: Phantom Manor, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Alice's Curious Labyrinth are exclusive to the European resort. Different rides from Florida and California.

  • 🎉 Year-round seasonal events: Disneyland Paris Halloween (October-November), Christmas Season (mid-November to early January), 33rd Anniversary celebrations through 2026, plus dedicated runDisney weekends and seasonal parades.

💡 Good to Know

  • 🎫 Park tickets, separate booking: park tickets are bought separately from your hotel package on the Disneyland Paris website, with multi-day passes the better-value option. Disney resort-hotel guests get an hour of early entry (Extra Magic Time) into Disneyland Park before official opening.

  • 🚇 Getting between the parks and Paris: RER Line A runs from Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy directly into central Paris in around 40 minutes, with five trains an hour at peak. Tickets are inexpensive and easy at the station machines, properly straightforward for a city day.

  • 📅 Crowd timing: weekday off-school visits are noticeably quieter than weekends and French school holidays. The week before French half-terms is one of the calmest windows of the year, while late summer (early September) is properly underrated before the autumn bookings kick in.

🎢 The Parks

The resort is two side-by-side parks with separate gates and a Disney Village in between, plus seven on-resort hotels and a clutch of off-resort options reached by free shuttle.

🏰 Disneyland Park

The original park, opened in 1992, the classic Magic Kingdom-style layout with Sleeping Beauty Castle at its centre. Five themed lands radiate out from Main Street USA: Frontierland (Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Phantom Manor), Adventureland (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, Pirates of the Caribbean), Fantasyland (the castle itself, Peter Pan's Flight, Alice's Curious Labyrinth, "it's a small world"), and Discoveryland (Hyperspace Mountain, Star Tours, Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast).

The European-exclusive rides are the ones to prioritise on a first visit. Phantom Manor is a darker, more cinematic Haunted Mansion than the US version, Big Thunder Mountain is genuinely the best ride in the franchise according to most park rankings, and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril is the only inverted coaster in any Disney park worldwide.

🌊 Disney Adventure World (formerly Walt Disney Studios Park)

Renamed and substantially expanded in March 2026, this is now the home of the resort's most ambitious recent additions:

❄️ World of Frozen: the new Arendelle-themed land with Frozen Ever After, a musical boat ride through the kingdom and Elsa's Ice Palace; a Royal Encounter meet-and-greet with Anna and Elsa at Arendelle Castle; and a daytime show over Arendelle Bay.

🎢 Marvel Avengers Campus: Marvel-themed land with Spider-Man WEB Adventure (interactive ride), Avengers Assemble: Flight Force (the Iron Man coaster) and meet-and-greets with various Avengers.

🐀 Worlds of Pixar: Ratatouille: The Adventure (a 4D trackless ride through Gusteau's restaurant), Cars Road Trip, and the Toy Story Playland zone for younger kids.

Adventure Way and new attractions: the new promenade includes Raiponce Tangled Spin (a family flying attraction inspired by Tangled), 14 new dining locations including the elegant Regal View Restaurant, and a new Disney Cascade of Lights nighttime spectacular using water drones (a world first, according to the park).

🏘️ Disney Village

The free-to-enter entertainment complex sits between the two park gates, with restaurants, shops, a cinema, a refreshed Sports Bar & Lounge, and live entertainment. Worth knowing for non-park days when you want to stay in resort but skip the gates, or for evenings after the parks close.

🧳 Travel Guide - Holidays to the Disneyland Area 2026 / 2027

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families

  • 🎢 Plan two full park days minimum: with World of Frozen, Avengers Campus and the headline Disneyland Park rides, two days is genuinely the minimum to do the resort properly. Multi-day Disneyland Paris park passes work out properly cheaper per day than single-day tickets.

  • ❄️ Frozen Ever After first thing: the new World of Frozen is the busiest area in the resort right now. Aim for the gates 30 minutes before official opening (resort-hotel guests get Extra Magic Time access an hour earlier) and head straight there.

  • 🏰 Sleeping Beauty Castle and the parade: the daytime parade through Disneyland Park runs along Main Street USA from Sleeping Beauty Castle, twice daily in peak season. Get to a kerb spot 30 minutes before for the front-row view.

  • 📸 Photo time at the castle and Arendelle: the two Insta-essentials are Sleeping Beauty Castle (best light in the early morning before crowds build) and Arendelle Castle in World of Frozen (golden hour). PhotoPass photographers are positioned at both.

  • 🛍️ Disney Village for the rainy hour: when a Paris drizzle arrives mid-afternoon, Disney Village's covered restaurants, cinema and stores cover a properly entertaining hour or two without needing to leave the resort.

💑 Couples

  • 🍽️ La Table de Lumière at the Disneyland Hotel: the recently launched Beauty and the Beast-themed fine-dining restaurant at the (Disneyland-Paris-run) Disneyland Hotel, with French dishes inspired by the Palace of Versailles. Properly cinematic for an anniversary night, on-resort booking required.

  • 🥃 Whisky and jazz at the Gatsby Bar: the speakeasy-styled bar at Hotel Dali Paris Val d'Europe runs late, with 250 whiskeys, a 1930s soundtrack and a properly grown-up vibe. The off-resort secret for couples-only-after-park-close evenings.

  • 🎆 Disney Cascade of Lights at park close: the new water-and-drone nighttime spectacular over Arendelle Bay in Disney Adventure World runs at park close most nights. Find a quiet bench on the lake's edge 30 minutes before, ideally with a cocktail in hand.

  • 🚆 A central Paris day: the RER A from Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy runs to central Paris in around 40 minutes, opening up a Champs-Élysées walk, an Eiffel Tower sunset or a Marais lunch. The natural couples' break-day from theme-park focus.

  • 🌹 A walk around Lake Disney: the lake between the two park gates and Disney Village is properly atmospheric in the evening, with the Disneyland Hotel reflected in the water and sunset views from the boardwalk.

FAQs

Are park tickets included with hotel bookings?

Not on standard hotel-only bookings. Disneyland Paris park tickets are bought separately on the Disneyland Paris website, with multi-day passes working out better value than single-day tickets. Some package deals bundle park tickets with on-resort hotel stays, but off-resort hotels are typically room-only and you book the park tickets yourself. Always confirm with your hotel.

How do free shuttles to the parks work?

Each off-resort hotel runs its own free shuttle bus to the Disneyland Paris park gates, typically every 15 to 30 minutes from early morning through to past midnight (specific timings vary by hotel, L'Elysée Val D'Europe runs until past midnight, Kyriad runs route 54). The shuttles usually drop at a designated park-side stop a short walk from the gates. Confirm timings with your specific hotel on arrival.

When are the cheapest and quietest times to visit?

Late January, February and the second half of November (excluding the immediate Christmas Season run-up) are the quietest and most affordable times of the year. Early September after French school return is another properly underrated window. Peak crowds and pricing run during French school holidays (mid-July to late August), Christmas Season (mid-November to early January) and the Halloween Festival period (October-November). For UK families with school-age kids, the week before half-term is typically the best balance of weather and crowd levels.

Is it suitable for adults without kids?

Yes, more than people realise. The European-exclusive rides (Phantom Manor, Indiana Jones, Big Thunder Mountain) genuinely earn the visit on their own merits, the parks are at their most atmospheric in the off-peak adult-heavy weeks, and the new La Table de Lumière fine-dining at the Disneyland Hotel plus the Hotel Dali speakeasy bar give proper grown-up evening options. Dedicated Disney-fan adults, anniversary trips and proposal weekends are all common.
