• Levi Activity Park runs right through summer with downhill and enduro mountain biking trails, an adventure park with rope courses, padel courts and disc golf under the midnight sun. Winter swaps in tubing lanes and beginner ski areas.

• Levi ski school takes kiddos from age 3, with English-speaking instructors and gentle nursery slopes at the base. Older children can progress to the 43 main slopes as confidence builds.

• Reindeer farm visits let the whole family feed reindeer by hand, learn about Sami herding traditions and take a sleigh ride through the forest. Most farms are a short drive from the village.

• Ranua Wildlife Park is home to polar bears, Arctic foxes, wolverines and around 50 other species. About 80 km from Levi, making it a proper day out for animal-mad families.

• SnowVillage at Lainio is rebuilt from scratch every winter with ice sculptures, an ice bar and themed ice suites you can actually sleep in. Open from December through to April, about 20 minutes from the village.

• Northern lights hunting from Levi runs November to March, with guided snowmobile and husky safari tours heading to remote fell-top viewpoints away from any light pollution. Some tours include a campfire stop with hot drinks under the aurora.

• Katkatunturi fell hike is a 2-3 hour return trail from the village to a panoramic viewpoint above the treeline. In summer, hike under the midnight sun. In autumn, the ruska (fall colours) across the fells are something else entirely.

• Tuikku mountaintop restaurant sits at the summit of the Levi fell, reached by gondola. Dinner with fell views and, in winter, a strong chance of spotting the aurora between courses.

• Ice fishing on a frozen lake is the most unexpectedly relaxing thing in Levi. Guided tours supply the gear, drill the hole and hand you a flask of warm berry juice while you wait for Arctic char to bite.

• Private sauna evening at one of the village's lakeside saunas followed by a roll in the snow (or a dip in a frozen lake if you are feeling brave) is the most Finnish thing you can do with an evening in Lapland.

• Hit the slopes together across 43 runs ranging from gentle green slopes to properly steep black runs and a terrain park for anyone who fancies showing off. Levi's lift pass covers all 26 lifts and the slopes are floodlit for evening sessions.

• Husky safari puts each person on their own 6-dog sled team, mushing through frozen forest with nothing but the sound of paws on snow. Tours run from December to April and range from quick sprints to full-day wilderness expeditions.

• Apres-ski at Hullu Poro Areena is where Levi really earns its nightlife reputation. The 1,700-capacity venue runs live music, DJ sets and themed party nights. V'inkkari next door is famous for crowd-surfing and table-dancing (in a fun way, not that kind).

• Snowmobile safari through Arctic fell landscape is a properly adrenaline-fuelled group activity, with guided tours heading across frozen lakes and through birch forests. Evening tours under the northern lights are peak group-photo territory.

• Bar crawl through Levi village hits Ihku for karaoke, V'inkkari for live music, LIFT for late-night DJ sets and Club Deiavu for cabaret acts. Everything is within walking distance, which is good, because those €7 beers add up.
