Things To Do on Grenada Holidays

There are tons of things to do on holidays in Grenada, the only problem is fitting them all in. For a beautiful day out visit the Bay Gardens, a three-acre garden filled with thousands of beautiful flowers and plants. If you're a water baby at heart take a walk along the harbour at Fort George. The harbour area is hugely popular with tourists and is a great place to get a bite to eat and enjoy a drink looking out over the waters.

If you're a watersports fan then head down to Sandy Island, a stunning beach which is popular with snorkelers. And if you're after a spot of culture then head to the Carriacou Museum which includes several exhibitions of the history of the island.

Culture

There is plenty for history-lovers to explore on holidays in Grenada. One of the most popular attractions for those wishing to learn more about Caribbean history is Leapers Hill. This hill, situated just north of Sauteurs is the site in which the Carib Indians destroyed their race rather than surrender to French Colonists in the 17th Century. It is an extremely important landmark and is popular with visitors to the island.

Grenada hosts several festivals each year and, in true Caribbean style, they're bigger and more colourful than you could imagine. The Grenadian Carnival takes place in July or August with live music, costumes galore and delicious foods on offer. On February 7th Grenada celebrates it's independence from Britain with ceremonies, parades and even a reception at the Governor General's.

The most fun festival to see on your Grenada holidays is the National Dance Festival which takes part twice a year and sees children from all the local schools take part in the island dance-off.
