Only into 3rd day of holiday and so far so good! We have stayed in a lot of different places on the island over the years from a terrible kip- that a travel agent recommend- to a luxury villa! Our kids have a week off from school do we decided to take advantage of the cheap aer lingus flights and go for a budget break- one of our friends recommended the Fayna as a fine mid range complex. For the money it's perfect very well located, no need to hire a car, any amounts of bars and restaurants within 30 seconds of the front door. I see previous observations about staff etc but so far our experience is good. Again, Luke and Jenny at the pool bar are extremely pleasant and helpful. There is a perfect lunch menu available which won't break the bank and the drinks and ice creams are quite reasonably priced. The pool itself is more than sufficient and we have had no difficulty in getting sun beds although you do get the usual towels on beds and nobody appearing on them until it's time to take them in. The apartments themselves are good value for the money but I would suggest to the management that an investment of €1,000 per apartment for a simple upgrade would make the complex much more attractive. The furniture is all cheapest of the cheap but as I say it does what it says on the tin! There is a TV in the apartment but nothing on it for Irish or English- again a €30 DVD player would make all the difference.

We have been going to Fayna in Lanzarote for quite some time and love it. The apartments have recently changed ownership and unfortunately the reception staff are not as pleasant as the previous owners. Front of house staff are very important as they are the first people you meet. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this. In general we love the apartments and the pool bar is brilliant. Great job Jenny and Luke.

We spent 2 weeks at these apartments in Feb 2015. The apartment we had was on the 1st floor, overlooking the pool area. The apartment is a good size, with plenty of space for 2 people. The bathroom was lovely, with a powerful shower, although there were a couple of times the water was not the hottest. The beds were very comfortable (as long as you like firm mattresses which we do.) However, the sheets are not quite big enough for the large mattresses so kept coming off which was annoying. The walls are also thin, so you do hear the neighbours a bit. But apart from that the place is really quiet, and you would never know how close you are to all the bars and restaurants. The kitchen area is ok, but the sitting room area is not very comfy. The sofa was perhaps one of the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on! This would not usually be an issue, but the weather was so awful the first week that we needed to stay in much more than we would have liked in the evenings to keep warm! The choice of TV channels is also very limited for Brits, and everything seems to be more geared up for Germans. The pool area is lovely when the sun eventually shines, although there do not seem to be enough sunbeds for the number of rooms there. The best thing there is the pool bar which has a new barman, Luke. He is excellent and could teach a lot of people about good customer service! Nothing is too much trouble for him, even when he is there for hours with no customers! I hope as the season gets busier he will really do well. (Thanks for the introduction to caramel vodka!) All in all a good destination and a great base to explore the island from.

Tourist Information

Weather

Lanzarote basks in year-round sunshine and warm temperatures. This Canary Island averages temperatures around 18° Celsius in winter and often rises above 26° Celsius during August's peak season. Soothing Atlantic breezes keep you from getting too hot on holidays in Puerto del Carmen, but don't be deceived; the rays are harmful, so get out the sunscreen and rather than going pink, get tanned!

Jabs

As UK, Courses or boosters sometimes advised: hepatitis A (not normally for package tourists).

European Style 2-Pin Sockets, 220/225V
