We have stayed in this hotel several times before and really enjoyed it, however this time we were disappointed with the room. We were at the very end of the corridor right next to the emergency exit and they had taken a large chunk out of the room to house a lift shaft for the cleaners. The room was so small my husband and I could not pass each other, you could touch the walls either side when in bed. One evening the bed broke and when we returned from our evening out the bed had been propped up by a water container!! no chance to sit on the balcony as the extractor fans blew straight at us, constant cooking smells YUK!! we were bed and breakfast and asked a waitress at the pool snack bar if we could have some extra ice for our drinks only to be told yes but we would have to pay for the ice!! Long queues for sunbeds and the threat of losing them if you left your bed for more than 5 mins was clearly irritating to say the least. So we will not be returning, shame as we have had several nice holidays in the past.

Just returned from an 8 night stay - our first trip to Benidorm, and probably not the last! We chose this hotel because it seems to have one of the biggest pools in town (I hadn't realised until we started looking that most have fairly small pool areas due to the amount of other buildings around!). When we realised the tv show was filmed here we couldn't resist! The pool area is great and well maintained, and we spent a fair amount of time during the days in and around one of the pools. We had a room facing the pool and would often see people queuing from about 7:30am until they were let in at 8:30 to claim a sunbed - we'd wander over at about 10:30 though and always find something (although rarely with a parasol, but that was never a problem for us). We stayed in the Pelicanos building - as a number of other reviews have stated, the building looks a little dated these days (I'm guessing it was built in the late 80's / early 90's, and has been updated a little along the way). When we were booking we had the option to pay a few hundred extra to upgrade to 'Superior' rooms in the more modern Ocas building, but as we were only planning on sleeping and getting changed in the rooms, I'm glad we didn't spend the extra. Not all of the rooms are the same size as those pictured however - we were in a double room at the end of one of the floors (room 516 I believe) which was next to a fire escape and (I think) some sort of janitorial cupboard, so was only about 2/3 of the size of the rooms typically pictured (and the other room that our party had). It took us a day or so to get used to the dated décor and small size, but quickly got over that by reminding myself that we'd saved around £300 by not upgrading to a room with laminate flooring and neutral tones! If room decor and facilities are important to you though, you might chose to upgrade or go elsewhere. Rooms cleaned daily to a good standard. We stayed bed and breakfast, so can't comment on other meals provided in the hotel. The buffet restaurant was always busy at breakfast time however, with a wide range of good food available. We used the snack bar at lunch time on a number of occasions, and the food was quickly prepared and generally good. We didn't come into much contact with the hotel staff over the week or so that we were there, but those we did all were friendly and polite. Special mention though must go to the poor souls who had the job of policing the sunbeds on a daily basis. We thought this was a great idea, and wished other hotels we've stayed in would have done this. They leave a slip of paper on any sunbeds that have towels etc on but are unattended - if they are still there an hour later they remove the items to free up the beds for other guests. A great idea, but one that brings with it a bit of grief and criticism from people who've had their stuff removed - we saw a couple of instances where other guests were clearly unhappy that their items had been removed and they'd lost the beds. The hotel staff dealt with it with far more sympathy than I could ever muster however, and should be given a medal for their patience!
