Seven years ago, my wife an I visited this hotel for our honeymoon. We had a wonderful time and can remember that this hotel was pleasant enough. The room was clean and well maintained and the facilities were up to a reasonable standard. Whilst we were there, we had an issue with a faulty cooker. After reporting the issue to reception, they dealt with the matter professionally and almost immediately someone came to make a repair. All the staff were friendly and the food pretty good. We also enjoyed some rather cheesy karaoke in the bar.

I stayed here out of season for two weeks, first week was in a studio and then I changed over to a one bed apartment. Both where modern and clean with basic cooking facilities available. A very quiet and peaceful stay. This is a large place with a big hotel feel to the place (in a good way), I especially liked the large open reception area to sit and use the WiFi, read etc. Maybe this wouldn't be so relaxing during a higher season, noise does seem to echo. A large pool area, well laid out will plenty of space, large bar and restaurant and ample parking. Rear of the property overlooks the Golf course. I liked the Hotel's location, but I did have my own transport, a 10 min walk to the beach, a long one into Alvor or Playa Da Rocha. I would make a guess that regular buses run along the main road into either town for a small amount. Playa Do Vau is the nearest and best spot nearby, with some great Bar's and Restaurants and a lovely small beach, a few Bar's along here had long Happy Hour's on their beer price's. A great coastal walk towards Alvor, with sunning views is close by.

We were sold this holiday as a 4* and that it deffinetly was not! Our apartment (137) was full of dampness and the lights on the adjacent stairwell did not work. The paint at the bottom of this stairwell was also bubbling and peeling off. When we went to take a shower the tap came off in our hands and one of the toilets was broken and not Fixed until two days before we went home. The food in the on site restaurant was vile. I had the chicken nuggets which contained some sort of brown 'meat' which tasted revolting and could not be eaten. We stayed at the end of the season and had no problem getting sun loungers at the pool as we appears to be the only guests using it most of the time. The pool bar was closed along with the snack bar despite there being a sign in lobby advertising it as open. On a plus side the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The WIFI in the lobby and bar area worked brilliantly and the apartment was huge. The kitchen was minimal and we are out all the time. I would recommend the €5 taxi ride to Pria Da Rocha and I'd recommend you try The Irish Rover and Ireland's Eye for a bite to eat. Gavin (the Chef) from The Irish Rover was wonderful and Aaron the singer from Irelands Eye certainly knew how to ensure everyone had a good holiday! If you are at Pria Do Vau beach I would recommend The Jacaranda Bar for a snack as it is extremely cheap and delicious! The apartment may not have been that luxurious and was certainly not 4* but it was a quiet and peaceful location for our first ever foreign holiday. If I were to return to the area. I would stay closer to Pria Da Rocha as it is a more tourist friendly location.

We stayed here in September, we booked a very cheap last minute deal and were pleasantly surprised by Estrela do Vau. It was very basic but we couldn't fault it. The apartment was had bedrooms and two bathrooms with a large living room/kitchen which was equipped with the usual kitchen items. All very clean and was cleaned daily throughout our stay, towels were changed every second day. The staff were so helpful, so helpful that when we left keys to our home and car behind the tracked us down and posted them free of charge back to us. We were delighted it was so unexpected. We didn't eat in the hotel and only had drinks in the bar one night. We preferred to walk the 20-30 mins into Praia da Rocha. The near by beach was beautiful and there was a number of small restaurants for lunch daily. A small spar here was far cheaper than the extremely expensive supermarket on the hotel grounds. Over all it was a great budget hotel it was a bit dated and worn but for the price we paid we weren't expecting a 5 star apartment. Would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind being away from the main holiday strip.
