Sports & Entertainment
St Julians Bay Hotel is directly situated along Main Street which the popular Sea Front promenade is adjoining Sliema and the popular Paceville district, which has over the years developed into one of the Island’s most popular nightlife and entertainment spots. St Julians, Initially a fishing village, later transformed into summer residence for wealthy locals and now has developed into one of the Island’s mostly fetched resorts for night life, entertainment, shopping and commerce for all age groups. Of cultural contrast, St Julians still retains some of its old dwellings and boat houses whilst the small bay still shelters numerous coloured Maltese boats that are berthed here all year round. St Julians is a village for all ages and walks of life and without any doubt has become Malta’s number one tourist destination.

The young at heart will enjoy nearby Paceville - this locality offers much to tourists looking for nightlife entertainment, including discos, bars, Casino , restaurants and other entertainment. Here there are dozens of closed and open air bars, cafes, restaurants, clubs as well as beautiful beach clubs, literally packing the streets with life and entertainment. During the day and early evenings, Paceville also houses a large shopping centre, as well as many upscale shops around the popular Portomaso and Hilton Development along Ross Street.

Firstly let me start of by saying all those who have given this hotel a harsh review just consider for a moment how much you paid for your stay here. It is true that this hotel is not going to win any awards for facilities or decor but what you have is a place to stay in the centre of St Juliens Bay within easy walking distance to the Buses with a multitude of decent cafes and restaurants on the doorstep. We found the staff to be knowledgeable and friendly. The rooms though very basic are roomy and cleaned daily. The only faults that we could find were that the showers are small and do not empty very quickly. They also have a curtain rather than a shower screen so it is easy to get the floor very wet. The mirrors in the room are also hung very low so I found myself bending quite a lot when getting dressed etc. The TV is also of the old type...No flat screens here (apart from in the official hotel room photos). All in all I have no regrets staying here as common sense should tell you what to expect by the price of this hotel. I would probably try somewhere different if travelling to Malta with my wife again.

Whilst this hotel has a good location, is clean and the bedrooms are spacious, that's where the niceties end I'm afraid. Firstly the noise. From outside (located on a busy road and next to a church which has bells which start around 5.30am) and the work going on downstairs (no warning from the hotel prior to arrival of works to the interior of the hotel). The breakfast provided was so bad, we ate out every day. Hot food was so badly cooked that's it's best to avoid. If you don't mind bread butter and jam, fill your boots. Wifi is available in the lobby after a laborious process to register and we never managed to get it working so can't comment on the effectiveness. The room towels were changed daily but I had to ask every single day for a shower mat and hand towel. I would categorically never stay here again, it wasn't cheap and we even considered moving hotel half way through the trip but didn't due to the cost we had already spent. Four star it ain't, if you don't mind comfort or luxury or in fact noise this is great.

To say that this was a 4* hotel would be a gross exaggeration. The room was decisively average with a view of absolutely nothing on the worlds smallest balcony that had the air conditioning unit taking most of the limited space there was available. The shower was decent enough although it did leak water into the bathroom. House keeping was a shambles. I had my towel taken (I assume house keeping thought it was theirs) and they provided my with a small bar of soap once on my last day! The bed was hard and extremely squeaky with springs digging into my spine. There is a lift that is sooo small it could only accommodate two adults with suitcases at best and even then, it was a struggle. There was building work going on it the hotel during my stay that started as early as 8am so I was woken EVERY DAY with banging and loud noises! Not the best way to start your day. I was not made aware when booking that there would be building work carried out during the week I was there and when I told reception about the noise, he just shrugged it off and said there was nothing they could do! Would not recommend this Hotel. Definitely overpriced and over starred.

Long balmy summer days and evenings are just two of the reason why St Julians holidays are so popular. It seems that you can come on holidays to St Julians at virtually any time and still get great temperatures and plenty of sun. Even during the winter temperatures rarely dip below the mid-teens, so you can expect St Julians to be a lively resort year round!
