We booked this holiday because the hotel looked nice with a massive swimming pool, big gym and it was right next to the beach and had a water park a few miles away. It was also all inclusive at very good price of £2700 in the school summer holidays, for me, my husband, 18 year old son and 15 year old daughter. We were very pleased with the hotel, it was really clean and the grounds were lovely. The reception staff were always polite but not over friendly. The restaurant staff, bar staff and waitresses were polite, friendly and made you feel very welcome. The food was good with lots of choice. There was a queue outside the restaurant to get in but only to be shown to your table and only at the most popular times, this was because they had high standards and didn't want the guests sitting down at dirty tables. The themed restaurant upstairs was also very good, they had Italian, Asian and Greek nights. But the best of all for us was the entertainment, there was always something to do, French Boules, aqua aerobics, beach volleyball, darts and ping pong competitions, dance lessons and water polo. There was the mini disco for the little ones and shows performed by the talented entertainment staff themselves in the amphitheater, we watched 'Greased Lightning' they also had a professional acrobatic show another night. All the entertainment staff were fab and there for you to join in but they didn't pester you if you just wanted to relax. We always have a favourite every year and it was definitely 'JACOB' he's the friendliest, funniest and most natural guy ever and he certainly made our holiday great. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

Visited the resort 12th august for one week, on arrival received roll and some fruit before being taken to our room no 36 which had the most amazing views out over the ocean, ok the room was not 4star standard but was spotless, air con cost 42 euro for the week but knew this before I booked. The beach is lovely and I found no problem getting into the sea, sun loungers are free but had to get one early as by 9am nearly all gone, beach bar nearby which supplied drinks and snacks throughout the day, choice very limited, The rester ant in my opinion was of good standard, with good quality food, as with the themed rester ant which we visited twice, it is upstairs and a lot more chilled. Drinks were of a fair standard, cocktails on all inclusive not so, but you can buy the real i am for a reasonable price, no air con in bar or reception area. The whole complex is very clean and never seems crowded which is nice. Be aware MOSQUITO'S, I never get bit, but I had quite a few on ankles. Overall had a lovely holiday, all of the staff we met were really nice, very accommodating, I think a few changes would definatley bring this hotel to a four star standard, would I go back, no, I would go to mastachari Bay, very pretty little resort with the most amazing beach.
Excellent couldn't have been looked after anymore than we were, will be going back but with the children next time as whilst we were there the staff love the children, couldn't walk past a child...

Arrived 5th August for a weeks stay, 2 adults 3 kids aged 14, 7 & 3 despite booking into the Gaia royal and being re-located here!!!!! 10 mins transfer from the airport, brilliant, 1st impressions very impressive upon entrance and greeted nicely at reception at 22.30pm with some tasteful rolls and fruit! Wasn't aware that we had to pay for air con etc so only sorted this the following morning after an absolutely sweltering nights sleep with all windows closed for fear of being eaten alive by the Mosquitos! The complex is immaculately clean everywhere, very well kept and managed. Weather was amazing the whole week we were there which was 1 of the few good points. Food: breakfast not good at all, bacon was some very strange form of cooked ham, loads of bread available and fresh for you to cut to, there is NO toaster but a breville machine which u must use as a toaster instead! We actually decided it was of such bad quality that we preferred not to wake up early so we missed breakfast venturing to the pool around 10.30 - 11.00 and ate the pizza and tea and coffee there instead! Overall the food was pretty poor, we didn't go hungry but we found it difficult to have a good choice, there is pork and veal virtually everyday and mostly in some kind of sauce, loads of salad cheese, olives, sauces etc and good choice of fruit, ice cream and geek desserts. On the couple of opportunitys they cooked chicken we had a heaped plateful to ourselves, wings 1 lunchtime and skewered kebabs 1 evening! I would say the food and the whole complex is catered purely for the French and Germans and probably the rest of the world but most definitely not the British at all, even the evening entertainment isn't catered for us which makes it pretty boring when there is only you around! We were fortunate enough to meet a couple of British family's which made the days and the evenings more tolerable especially when there was no evening entertainment at all! There is a themed restaurant available above the usual canteen style restaurant which we visited 3 times, it's available by appointment only at least 24hrs before, if you want to eat at the later time of 8.30 then you would have to book 48hrs in advance otherwise they only ever have the 6.30 time available. The restaurant is smarter with faux leather comfy chairs, lil flowers on the table and a general relaxed atmosphere, you can also sit outside with beautiful views and even watch the sunset, the food is better quality with the chef normally cooking right in front of you, we did the Italian, green and international evenings and loved all of them, I'd defiantly recommend going there to eat instead of the usual restaurant downstairs. We did eat out 1 night but only to have a change of scenery and we visited 1 of the restaurants in nearby mastichari. The overall complex here is massive, it holds around 1100 people and was almost at maximum capacity when we was there, although you would never have thought that at anytime. The main pool (I believe there is a smaller less busy pool in a newer part of the hotel) was great, various daytime pool activities which many people joined in throughout the day (water polo, aerobics), it's difficult to find a bed after 10.00am but a great size and a warm pool sitting closely to the small children's pool with the all day bar in very close proximity serving cake, freshly cooked pizza, drinks and the best ice cream ever all help yourself style too! We unfortunately didn't stay in the newer part of the complex but apart from the smell of piss in the bathroom it did what it was supposed to do and we slept well enough! The beach is located just down a lil slope but u cannot enter the Sea here as it's very very rocky but if you take a less than 5 min walk further up you will find a smallish sandy beach with easy access to the water! Alternatively u can take s 15 minute walk along the path into mastichari where u will find the shops and restaurants, it's very sweet and on a small scale but it a tiny little village so it's nice to experience a little of how the Greek people really live. Be aware that if you choose to venture into mastichari at night the pathway isn't always lit so make sure u have a torch light on your mobile or take a torch with you! 1 must you have to do is to watch the sun set on mastichari beach, it absolutely beautiful and you can take some amazing pics! We didn't venture into kos town but some people we met up with did and they said its full of lovely shops to buy souvenirs etc, the migrants are all on the beach etc but they don't bother you although it's hard to not see there struggles so our friends offered some McDonald's to a few of them and a small donation of 5 euros was given to 1 family, it's very hard to not want to help them all but it's impossible so it's best to leave them to it and continue with your trip. We took a day trip to the very local waterpark, 8 mins on the free bus, it's immaculately clean and there are loads of lifeguards everywhere, it's not a massive park but it's a good enough size with surprisingly not too many people in! Food excellent, you must order the special burger and chips from the kids cafe by the small kids area, it's a delicious burger with real bacon, lettuce n tomato and chips for €4, defiantly the best buy of the week! They take photos of you during the day buy only up till 13.00 hours, they cost €5 each, also if you have small children I believe below 1.30 metres or so that you wish to go on the rides with rings etc you must get a white coloured wristband from reception, basically you sign a pice of paper saying you accept responsibility that your child is advised to not use the ride and if any accidents happen then the park are no longer held responsible, obviously if you didn't think it was safe you wouldn't take your child on the ride in the 1st place, reception do not tell you this and you will only find out once you have qued and got to the top for the lifeguard to send you back down and re-que! Anyway a must do day and the wave machine is well worth a visit! You have to check out by 12 midday but if you require extending your room or requiring a room as we got (basically had to move rooms for the afternoon) it's another charge of €16, definitely worth doing when u have a night flight so u can keep your luggage in 1 place, still have the comforts of the air con, TV , beds plus you can shower and freshen up before you journey home! So overall, we had a good weeks holiday, kids loved it being in the pool 95% of the time, we swam in the sea on 2 separate days, we relaxed,we got a lovely tan and we also lost a bit of weight lol! Would we go back? No The food quality and the evening entertainment needs to cater a little more for the Brits, if this could be changed them yes most definitely!
