We booked this with another family, on a tight budget this year, so we needed value for money. Between us we have travelled the world have experienced many star rated hotels. As this was a 3 star in Greece and mixed reviews we were a little apprehensive. We have been proven wrong. To get the negatives out of the way first, yes the hotel does need renovating but the programme of works has started, so issues with bathrooms and showers not fixed to the wall, and storage space will be fixed, this is a big resort so it will take time. The cleaners did a great job and the grounds were large and spotless. The bungalow prototype looks fab, so this hotel is only going one way and that is up. In our opinion, with some improvements it could and should be a 4 star. Little things like glassware and not plastic cups at dinner make such a difference and feel treated like adults, this was introduced while we were there - bravo! Having to walk through the servery area of the first restaurant to get through to the air con and outdoor restaurant is probably the worst part of meal time. You can choose when to go and when to avoid the rush, we found 9am and 7.45pm the best times.the food was as good as any restaurant in terms of quality but there should be more fish options and the cold starters should not be repeated as much please. Hairdryer in all rooms should be standard, but you can rent one for 10 Euro deposit (this isn't advertised anywhere). In fact the literature on the hotel could be better informed as there is so much on offer, I am sure we missed things! Beach towels are not provided but the on site laundry is great. 8 euros for 1 hour wash and dry service and the guy is very friendly. The mini market and on site shops are good value, certainly not inflated prices like some on site shops. There are not enough beds around the pools, and towels are on before 7am. Once during our stay they were removed, but this is the same all over the world. However, we preferred to spend our days on the beach, but you have to pay 6euros for 2 beds and umbrella. If this is a private beach then I do not think this is fair, it would be much nicer to slightly increase the accommodation price to include this. The beach is pebbly but shallow and then sandy, and crystal clear warm water and there are lovely natural sea grass beds which give great snorkelling. We caught an octopus (returned straight after photos) and so many different fish. The Watersports team are very friendly and so much choice so take plenty of euros for this. The lifeguards are so friendly and a special hello to Spiridoula. The boat trip is a lovely day out and say hi to 'James Bond' from his smiling British family for us. The all inclusive is restricted, bars stop at 11pm and then you have to pay, but again a happy hour from 11pm to midnight was introduced while we there if you wanted it, with different beer and cocktail choices. There are plenty of water stations around and you can put bottles in your fridge. The sun and heat are so strong you shouldn't drink all day everyday anyway! This is a lovely place, very friendly and welcoming, if you treat them with respect and friendship, try some Greek phrases and be courteous as they all work very hard, there were some very rude guests which is not necessary. We are definitely looking to return next year and I have to say a big thank you to Patricia on reservations for all her help. Thank you everyone for such a memorable holiday!

Stayed for a week at the Messonghi beach hotel. First impressions of the hotel were great, the communal areas of the hotel were lovely and the grounds were all nice. However, the room was disappointing, i traveled in a group of six with three per room, when we arrived and were shown to our room it was obvious the room was a two bed room with an additional pull out bed type thing. All three of the beds were very uncomfortable and as there was a third bed in a two bed room there was no space to put cases and walk. I ended up moving pieces of unnecessary furniture onto the balcony and stacking some up just so we had room to put the cases (as they didn't fit under the beds either) the bathroom was tiny, and was a shower room, so water went all over the floor and was very slippy, bit of a hazard really. Also there was only two plug sockets one near a dressing table, the other hidden behind the middle bed, sounds petty when mentioning but with three people trying to get ready using only the one accessible plug socket it was difficult. The breakfasts i didn't really have many complaints over, fresh fruit. Greek yogurt, jams, honey, chocolate spread, fresh bread, salad? pastries, cooked breakfast such as eggs, bacon, beans, sausages (hot dog style), tomatoes and other vegetables, however the fruit juice was watered down out of a drink dispenser. For the evening meal there was always a large selection of salad, olives, vegetables, cold pasta and rice, meat, cheese and salad dressing. The hot food was ok but nothing special, there was always pasta with tomato sauce and chips (suitable for the kids) then various meat dishes and vegetables. The food labels weren't the best, sometimes there weren't any, other times things were just labeled 'chicken' or 'beef'. Desserts weren't amazing either, but like i said in the title, cheap and cheerful. Lunches were basically the same as the evening meal. If you went to the snack bar on the far side of the hotel they served gyros.. Greek pitta wraps that have chips in them! only discovered this on the second to last day which was a shame. One issue i did have with the dining room we were in was that kids club entertainment was on up till about 8.30pm and music was played right outside the balcony so the music was very loud when trying to eat and have a conversation. You could pay for wifi per day or for the week, i payed for the week, some of my group payed per day but all of the sessions timed out really quickly so kept having to log back in, also the connection wasn't great, which is fine but when your payed 15 euros you expect it to work. There's no denying that where we stayed is beautiful and really recommend going on the captain homer boat tours, lasted a whole day for $20 went to a blue lagoon, botanical garden, hotel/cafe/bar where i had a slushy and a ice cream, swam with fish in a little cove, jumped off the top of the boat, and lunch was included which was pasta, tzatziki, some tuna dish, Greek salad and bread with wine. Had a fish foot spa in the hotel spa which was great and the staff were really friendly. Also went on a big inflatable sofa that got pulled around by a speed boat which was really fun. Bus outside the hotel runs to Corfu town.., cost about $2.20 only went for a few hours so didn't really see much but probably worth a whole day. A couple minutes up the beach is a bar called Elvis' bar and its all american diner themed with lots of Elvis memorabilia, popular with locals, great cocktails, actually really pretty to just to sit and have a drink. All in all the hotel was ok but not sure i would stay again.
