We visited the Avanti Hotel from 12th August until 26th on a B and B basis. We travelled with our 2 girls aged 8 and 5. It was around 10pm when we arrived at the hotel and after a ten minute wait we where next to be checked in. Check in was quick enough with a small glass of orange juice provided, wifi code and paid up front for use of safe. €35 for fortnight. We where given a room on the 4th floor and although the lifts are quick they are quite small when trying to lug up suitcases and children. No help with cases as some reviews mentioned. On entering the room we where surprised by how small they where. This mainly due to the fact that me and my partner had 2 single beds pushed together with separate sheets and quilts and a camp bed squeezed either side. One hard up against balcony doors and the other squashed between the twin bed and bathroom wall. There was a small round table and 2 chairs in other corner. Decent size LCD TV with BBC1,ITV and CBeebies, although we didn't really use it. Bathroom was adequate and kept clean with the water in the shower only going cold once for a few minutes. The fridge in the room was small, probably touring caravan size, and as we where B and B we planned to keep some things for lunch for the kids in. We managed a few cans of beer, some juice for the kids and some small kids snacks. There was no cutlery provided anyway even if we wanted to make a sandwich. We didn't bother with a pool view as we didn't really sit on the balcony for long and to be honest the entertainment is that poor at night we went elsewhere until it had finished. Onto the entertainment, during the day is one girl who tries to organise a game of water polo or basketball but the pool is quite busy and with people playing with young children she was fighting a losing battle. The night time entertainment became a running joke between us and the people we met as the area used was tiny with most people sitting inside behind patio like doors. The entertainment does really let this hotel down. There are some good restaurants immediately outside the hotel, the Chinese Xiang Gong, The Rib Shack, Ficardos to name a few. The Golden Cafe across the triangle was very good for sports and was a nice clean bar with reasonable prices. Also we went for drinks to Pegasus and Crocodile pubs over the road. Both have drink offers from €2 a pint and €3.50 for cocktails. Suite 48 next to Olympic Lagoon hotel is a must for drinks of an evening and the sunset over the castle from there is lovely. The harbour is a 15-20 min walk and with an abundance of restaurants to choose from a 3 course set price menu can be found from €10.95. Back to the hotel, breakfast was ok. The bacon is the usual smoked streaky stuff you find abroad and the sausages are like tinned hot dog ones. The omelette and egg lady is brilliant and there is a good choice of cereal, fresh fruit and croissants. Although there could be a long wait at the toaster. We eat out at breakfasts a few times just to get some decent bacon and sausage. There was a bottle of water in our fridge on arrival but when it wasn't replenished as some have said we ended up buying our own. No big deal. The room also wasn't made up on 2 occasions which also wasn't such a problem apart from us having to use towels that we had left on the floor to be changed and where damp. Drinks in the pool bar are convenient but a pint of lager costs €3.30, small soft drinks from €2 and lolly ices from €2. We found it easier to walk out the hotel, 50 yards along the path to the supermarket and buy drinks at around €1. Also lolly ices and ice creams are cheaper in hotel shop. As mentioned in other reviews the shop sells soft drinks, water, wine and beer but has no fridge at all. This is to make you buy at higher prices from the bars. The indoor pool was nice and cool and offered shade to the children but the outdoor park was never used at it has no cover at all and was absolutely scorching. Such a waste. The gym was ok to keep toned but not an abundance of free weights. Towels can be changed all day by the indoor pool. This review might seem like a long moan but I believe in telling it how it is. We still had a lovely holiday and met some lovely people. Overall I would say this hotel is not quite 4 star and we would love to return to the paphos area, just not to this hotel. Any questions and I will try and answer

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted with friendly staff and fresh orange juice (which we drank plenty of during our stay). Although we didn't eat in the hotel other than breakfast and the occasional lunch, food and service was superb. The room was always spotlessly clean when we came back from our days out and staff at the bar were always quick with the drinks. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay here again!
