We have stayed at the Altamar a few years back but this was our first All Inclusive stay. If you are expecting 4 or 5 star you will probably be disappointed but if you expect 3 star you get everything you want. The hotel is clean and the view from your balcony or either pool is amazing. The kids club is great and my 8 year old enjoyed it especially the chocolate party. The food is good and always something to eat. Beer, sangria, soft drinks, wine and water on tap. Paid for a club room and not quite sure that was worth it altho lots of TV channels we only turned the TV on twice in 11 days. Balcony fabulous - lots of space and 2 sunbeds, a table, an umbrella and 4 chairs. The bingo is a bit of fun and even more so if you win as always over €200 for a full house. Would definitely visit again.

I have just returned from 2 weeks . I went with my children and grandchildren. We had 4 one bedroom apartments. I know many of the reviews mention the lifts, and yes they are true. You can wait a long time and they are like a sauna ! But if you go knowing this, it helps. I would encourage you to change your room if its next to the lifts cos you will hear them all night. The floors go from 0 t0 8 or 0 to 6, depending what side you are on. floors 0-2 on one side of the hotel have next to no view of the sea. The higher the level and further round the hotel the better. The apartments are big enough for 2 adults and 2 children. They are a bit 'tired' and in need of freshening up. The balcony is great size. I asked to move to a room with a better view and I checked out a club room ( for an extra 20 euros per night !) and it's not worth it ! They have been freshly painted and give the full tv package and I think wi fi, but just not worth it. You can get the wi fi and tv package in the basic room for much, much less. The rooms, basic and club, don't have air con, and the fans just don't cut it! You can hire extra fans, which my children did for their grandchildren, they weren't great either. The food is great, and I would give it 4 stars. Great choice, fresh salad and fruit every day. I heard some people complain about the food, but they want champagne while paying beer prices. The staff are great in the restaurant. The pools are large, clean and we never failed to get beds. The Amadores beach is lovely and about 20 mins walk downhill. From there , we walked to Puerto Rico, taking about 15 mins. The biggest negative is the manager and the reception staff, all men. They have no idea about customer service. I've never encountered such poor service. They would probably be the reason I would not return there. On check out, the manager took my key and said very roughly, "ok". Not " did you have a good holiday ? " absolutely nothing. Puerto de Mogan is a lovely place to visit. So the hotel maybe paying beer prices, but it's great beer !

Just arrived back from the Altamar, we had a fab holiday. The food was lovely with different choices every day, no issues with getting a sunbed, yes the entertainment is a little cheesy but good family fun. We even ended up playing bingo and won! Only downsides were the lifts which could get busy, no air con and could have done with the cleaning to be a bit better with new sheets etc. The Amadores beach was absolutely stunning with a few beach bars and restaurants, kids loved it. Try the Monaco restaurant, food was lovely and such friendly waiters....if you want a great family holiday that doesn't cost a fortune, you won't be disappointed.

We were two families travelling together and our request to have two apartments next to each was granted. Views from all over the complex were fantastic. Rooms were a little on the small side but clean and comfortable. Kids clubs are great and they cater for all ages. One small draw back is the lift it had a tendency to breakdown but was always fixed very quickly. Already looking forward to going back next year.
