My husband and I first visited the Playa Moreia in June 2012. We usually don’t visit the same place twice but we had such a lovely time that we went back in August 2014. Both times we booked a sea view room (well worth it) and this is one of the reasons we loved it so much. It’s such a beautiful view of the beach (which is literally just outside the hotel) and the little river that runs alongside the hotel. The hotel itself is reasonably basic but clean and well-presented and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are bright and airy and cleaned regularly. The first time we arrived I was very relieved as I was worried the rooms might not very nice as it was so inexpensive. I needn’t have worried; we loved our room and our balcony. This is not 5 star luxury (but you wouldn’t expect that for the price you pay) but my 5 star score is mainly based on value for money, the views and the hotel location. The hotel is so close to lots of lovely restaurants which all overlook the sea. S’illot itself never seems too busy and overcrowded even in the height of summer. We always managed to get a sun lounger at the beach (although the pool area gets quite busy). I would say this is a perfect relaxing get away for couples. Probably good for families too. Not sure about teenagers looking for a party holiday. There are some lovely little bars in the area that seem to stay open for most of the night but I don’t think this place is for die hard clubbers. Having said that you can take a taxi or a long walk to Cala Millor which I’ve heard is busier in the evenings (although we never got round to visiting it ourselves). The only thing to be wary of is if you book through Travel Republic. The first time we stayed we arrived at 4am but our room had not been booked until the next day so we had to wait until 10am to check in. This wasn’t the hotel’s fault and they got us into a room as soon as they could and gave us a free breakfast while we waited. All in all we had a lovely time at this hotel on both occasions and will probably return at some point even though we have many countries still to visit!

The staff is OK, but I felt like I was a burden when asking for help. Also, if you want to use the Internet you have to pay. You get a code and you have to write it down so as not to forget. I didn't do that (I had only used 10 minutes out of 60) and when I asked for my money back I was told: "this is not how we do things, I'm sorry. If you have the code you can use the remaining time." Be sure to take good care of all useful information you get. 1 hour of WIFI costed me 3 euro the first time. Strangely enough, I was charged 2 euro the second time (it was a younger woman whom served as receptionist this time). The rooms are nice looking, but the materials of the beds are totally loose and creak. Also, the rooms are NOT sound proof. I was so annoyed by my neighbors because they sat up until 11 or 12 o'clock in the night and listened to TV. I only had a book with me as entertainment and could neither sleep nor concentrate on my book. Sleep was not a problem, once the noise died down. There was this big yellow curtain in a special material that blocked out the sun. It worked. As long as it was dark, I could sleep. Since we had thin sheets as blankets. There are also two wool blankets in the closet if you are cold. As for towels, if you want clean ones just put the towels in the bathtub and the maids will bring you clean ones (they come every other day). But the cleaning you need to do yourself. Since I spent a lot of time on the beach, a lot of sand gets dragged into the room and there is a mop/brush in the bathroom that you can swipe the floors with. And the toilet was loose as well. If you shifted you body when sitting on the toilet seat, the toilet would bang against the wall behind you because it was not nailed to floor. It was rather noisy. You are also given food in a basked by the hotel, there is a checklist where it tells you how much every item costs (soap and brush to do the dishes you can also pay for) and then you just write a cross or "V" for what you want to keep. The rest you deliver to the receptionist within 2 days, otherwise you pay for everything! What shocked me the most was not that the maids did not clean the floors, it was the fact that I had to pay for soap and a brush to do the dishes. I payed to work. It's unbelievable! The location can be described as poor and as good. There is not much to do around the hotel, expect shopping for souvenirs (which you can find along the streets), eating out at pubs or restaurants (which are also close by) and lastly; bathing at the beach which is 100 meters in front of the hotel. But if you want to go sightseeing or travelling, then you can choose this hotel, but it will cost you with bus or other transportation because Palma (the heart of Mallorca and where most things happen) is located 1 hour or more with bus from this hotel. The only good location you can travel to by bike from S'illot is Porto Cristo. Nice beach and great diving centre with trips and other fun stuff to do. I recommend that.

When booking we specifically requested a hotel with kids clubs and facilities. Upon arrival we were told that they had all stopped as it was now out of season(18 October). We also went half board and the food was disgraceful. To top it all off the staff were rude and aggressive which left us fearing for our safety. We spoke to the manager who told us there was nothing they could do and that we should talk to our travel agents. We had to leave and went to a different hotel. Half of the hotel is new and half is old. its a bit like the titanic. our balcony was tilted down and the railings didn't seem secure.
