hotel very small and quiet and is only suitable for couples 55 or older . If you travel in a group of more than 4 you will have to sit on separate tables as they only have tables for 4 and wont let you push them together . Bar men are friendly but waitresses in restaurant especially one in particular are rude and miserable. The alcohol is a very poor standard and gives you a bad throat . Sun beds are locked up until 10am so every one is dashing for them and people nearly fighting for them as not enough of them. there are too many rules and you are nervous of making a noise or enjoying yoursef. There is an hour in the day when you cant get a drink not even water and no snacks are served except dried up biscuits at 5pm. We were told off for making a noise when we werent even up aiong with many other things. .Everyone we spoke to felt the same and said they wouldnt return.IT is a very boring hotel . We are a 4 ladies aged between 48 and 53 and we felt far too young for this hotel . We have just returned from a weeks holiday on 31.08.15

I returned home yesterday after a ten day break at the Hotel Costa at Portal Nous. Most importantly we read the reviews on Trip Advisor before we booked so we knew what to expect, both good and bad! On arrival we were greeted by a member of the friendly reception staff and although our room wasn't ready until after 2pm we had lunch in the restaurant. Once we got our keys we found our room comfortable and clean and the beds were very comfortable. On exploring the hotel itself we found the pool to be reasonably small with a very limited amount of sun loungers and deck chairs. You will find this problem repeated in other reviews so we knew this already. Staff try to combat the pre booking of sun beds by chaining them up during the evening and not unlocking them until about 9.30am the following morning, when of course there was the usual feeding frenzy. Due to the fact that it is an adults only hotel there was a relaxed atmosphere and it was very pleasant relaxing by the pool. A word of warning due to the design of the pool when a guests jumped in there was a back wash which flowed back and soaked anything that had been left on the floor in the sunbathing area. The restaurant itself was very well run by all of the hardworking members of staff, the downside being the food. Don't get me wrong the food that was on offer was on the whole tasty but the choice was very limited and sometimes repetitive. I found that the food was not topped up quickly enough often resulting in shortages of certain items. The hotel was dated and could do with a bit of TLC but the maintenance crew worked very hard to maintain standards and the pool itself was very well maintained. The entertainment during the evening was minimal and of average quality apart from the saxophonist who was brilliant! The bar staff were amazing and worked so hard to provide an excellent service, with a good choice of drinks including cocktails. The hotel is situated on a hillside and the walk down to the cove would prove a challenge to less able guests due to the steep hill, but again we were aware of this before we booked our stay. A short walk down the main road takes you into Portal Nous. The bus stop on the main road (104 or 106) will take you into Palma Nova / Magaluf or into Palma itself. The bus service was excellent. We had a good holiday at Costa Portals down mainly to the hard working staff. We knew what to expect which reflects on how important it is to do your homework before you book, would I return to the Costa Portals Hotel again? We enjoyed our stay but we would try a different hotel next time.

I have just returned from a 10 day holiday with my Partner all inclusive. The hotel itself was very nice and our room was lovely. We had a nice view of the sea. The food in the restaurant was quite limited and when food had run out, it was not replaced with more, which was not very good. There also was not a lot of choice for dessert, also and the same happened with the desserts. The drinks were nice from the bar, but they were served most of the time in paper cups, which is not good. The entertainment was not very good, during our stay there was only 3 acts on, the saxophonist being the best. It was an Adult only hotel, so it would have been better with more entertainment. The music played during the day was the same even at night, Spanish music, no up to date music to listen to whilst relaxing. The sun beds around the pool were very limited, not enough of them. Some days we had to go to the cove about 5 mins away, down a steep hill. It was very nice. We could not fault the friendly staff at all.

We arrived in the early hours of 11/8/2015 for a 10 day stay with great expectations. We had booked a standard twin with balcony. Our room...................dirt all over bath, if you could call it that because it was only just a little bit bigger than a shower tray in size. The toilet had dried urine on the basin ridge so not cleaned and the bedroom was the same. The bed linen had stains on, including dried blood and the mattresses had stains on them together with red hairs! I am grey haired and my wife is blonde! The balcony, well it was about 4 feet from the ground so I suppose it was a balcony but a poor excuse for one! The bathroom was tiny and to sit on the toilet, I had to have my legs in the bath! My wife had to sit sideways and that was still difficult! In the bedroom there were no doors on the wardrobes, ridiculous! The room should seriously have been a broom cupboard because it was very small indeed! The television was very small too! No tea and coffee facilities and you had to pay 20 euros for a kettle together with 20 euros deposit! There was a safe, but again, you had to rent it! Wifi, yes, you may have guessed, you have to buy a code per day for use! Hidden charges everywhere! We were all inclusive and found out that if you were getting your drinks on all inclusive, you had to have them in paper Pepsi cola cups!!!!! BUT, if you were BUYING your drinks, you could HAVE A PROPER GLASS!! Discriminating and made us feel 'cheap' yet we had paid £1200 for this 10 day stay! If you wanted an extended checkout you could buy that BUT you COULD NOT KEEP YOUR ROOM! The night receptionist was called Irene, a young blonde haired lady and she was extremely apologetic and disturbed when she saw the toilet! She came and on her hands and knees, scrubbed our bathroom till it was clean and then changed all our bedding which I felt bad about because Irene should not have to do this but she insisted which showed her personal commitment to us! We refused to sleep in the beds and kept our luggage in our cases! Altogether NOT the best start to our holiday! Irene stated she would speak to the morning staff to try and resolve this and the gentleman was called Augusta and he did everything possible to rectify the problem, but I did demand a full refund and a hotel move if things were not resolved! We were moved to a room on the next floor with a proper bath, toilet at the side of the bath so space for legs comfortably and a bigger television(the only thing in the room you didn't pay for!) The food..................breakfast is fine! Lunch and evening dinner a different story! Almost everything was in sauce and salty but each meal, there was always fish, but EVERY DAY, please, come on!!! The Restraunt always smelt of fish which was somewhat off putting. If you chose a cold lunch pasta rice fruit cheese and bread etc, you could say it was ok, but other than that, it was poor, with only two decent evening meals during our stay really. Other guests were describing the evening dinner selections as 'slop' as was I so this needs great improvement! As you got to know the staff, they were friendly and were also aware of this hotels shortfalls. We would not stay here again and hope that we help others to avoid an experience like ours. We ended up dining out for the last three evenings because we could not face the selections but others were sooner doing this than us! The area is lovely but the hotel disappoints.
