This was excellent value and an excellent choice of hotel. My husband & I had such a fabulous holiday in April 2014 that we came back this time with my parents to celebrate a big birthday. Our second visit to Majorca and our second All Inclusive Holiday at Costa Portals We booked everything separately from the flights, transfers and hotel. This Hotel was the third drop off from the airport transfer coach, but I suppose it depends on the day of travel where people were staying. It was the last stop on the pick up back to the airport. On the information board the hotel had printed up our names and pick up times from travel republic which we thought was a nice touch. In reception opposite the lift you can find luggage scales to weigh your case. Reception was friendly and we arrived before check-in but a room was available so no hanging around. Room: We had a good sized room with a balcony above the pool which had sun all afternoon - no need to sit around the pool. The rooms were cleaned every day and we were given clean towels every day. Comfortable bed but the sheets expose the new mattress after a nights sleep. The sheets need to be fitted rather than flat sheets. Food: We found a great choice of food and ate well for our 7 night stay. Breakfast: including continental choice, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cakes, bread, hot cooked breakfast (at least 2 types of egg everyday). Tea and coffee machines and juice machine. Lunch and evening meal: Salad bar - with cold meats, cheese, seafood and salads on one bar. Hot food on another bar. Chicken, fish, meat, vegetables, chips. Range of deserts including ice-cream. Someone mentioned no hot plates - there are hot plates they are in the hot plate stand by the hot food area. Afternoon tea and cakes everyday. All Inclusive drinks from 11am till 11pm. We found this excellent value and great choice. The barman mixed us a sangria jug and gave me the recipe. The jug of sangria was lovely by the pool on an afternoon. All house spirits were included, beer and wine. I drink martini dry and the house vermouth was no different to martini. The beer was good quality. The lemonade and cola were also good quality. We each have souvenir Costa Portals glass we bought from Bruno. The hotel even provided entertainment on an evening from a magician, singers etc. Football was on in the bar area one evening and the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Staff are friendly and helpful. The bar area is clean with seats and stools. We took a pack of cards to play in the bar area. The pool area has sun loungers, but does suffer from people reserving with towels despite polite notices. It was nice to sit on the terrace in the shade overlooking the sea. The temperature was about 25C everyday in early April To find the lovely little beach cove: Leaving the hotel and turn right, walking a short way then turn right by a derelict building head down a steep hill turn right again and walk a little way you will find a charming little beach. Head up some steps to the right of the beach (below another derelict building) and you will find a rough coastal path that takes you along the coast and above Portals Nous beach and the marina. It is a lovely walk we did most evenings to walk off the delicious food. The beach by the marina with the fancy yachts has beautiful clear blue waters. Prices at the marina are a little steep for food, drink and ice-creams. Bus to Palma: Leaving the hotel and turning left and head down the bank until you hit the main road. The bus stop on your left takes you to Palma and costs very little. Get off by the cathedral and you can get a bus at a bus stop near to the cathedral. The bus stops faces the sea with the cathedral and the fountain lake behind you. In Palma we visited the Cathedral. Ate at a lovely Tapas bar and took the red city sight seeing bus which takes you all around the city including up to the Castle. When we got the bus the first time we stayed on until the underground bus station and then walked through the city which is quite charming. Bus to Palma Nova: Leaving the hotel and turning left and head down the bank until you hit the main road. The bus stop on your right across the road takes you to Palma Nova, Magaluf and Santa Ponsa. This bus passes through Portals Nous main centre which you could walk too in 10 mins. Again it costs very little on the bus. Get the bus back from Palma Nova along the main sea front. McDonalds is on the beach. Both bus journeys are very short and cheap. However the bus times which we got from the website do not run on time and patience is required whilst waiting for them. The buses are not reliable so consider the taxi. As there were 4 of us it was more convenient. To get to the little shopping centre in Portals Nous. Leaving the hotel and turning left and head down the bank until you hit the main road. Turn left and follow the main road for about 10 minutes. There are a few shops, bars, cafés and restaurants and the supermarket for essentials. The Ship Inn shows football matches and has free wifi. Good pint prices & a nice latte. A three star hotel but we thought it was better than some four stars we have stayed in. Thank you to all the staff at Costa Portals it was great to see the same faces working here this year as last. My Mam & Dad loved this hotel as much as we do.

Stayed at this hotel a couple of weeks ago, we arrived at the hotel around midnight, upon arrival it seemed to take reception a ridiculous amount of time to check in, we were exhausted from travelling and to be told our rooms are not ready I find unacceptable! they have had all day to prepare!! the man on reception is rude, arrogant and unbelievably unhelpful. no manners whatsoever!!! woke up the next day to go and lie by the pool to only then be given more horrific service from the bar stuff who seemed reluctant to even give any drinks! refused to even give me a bottle of water! I believe she was called Maria! I did pay for all inclusive so I don't know why they seemed to act is if the bottles of water were coming out of there personal salary! In a nutshell, this hotel is horrendous!!!! rooms unclean, food appalling, nothing nearby, SERVICE DREADFUL!!! never experienced anything like this in my life! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Visited the Costa Portals for a long weekend break, looking for relaxing time. The hotel is located in a very quiet, peaceful residential area, exactly what I needed. There are however good transport links nearby. As other reviewers have said it is a very hilly area & not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, however I loved it as I enjoy walking. As it is a hilly location there are great views over the sea, particularly from the 4th floor. The staff at this hotel are very professional & friendly from the reception to the kitchen & the cleaners. All are great - special mention to the cleaner on the 4th what a lovely lady!. The rooms as small but spotlessly clean, although my room only had 1 socket for a lamp which I had to unplug to enable me to charge my phone etc. & could have done with a bedside table but overall adequate. I stayed AI & must say that compared with other AI hotels this is very good. There is a good range of food available at every meal & a chef's special which he is there to provide. The pool is very small with limited sunbeds, which are usually booked very early, however only a 5 min walk for the hotel there is a lovely little cove with a nice sandy beach. Just perfect. Overall I would really recommend this hotel for a quiet relaxing break.
