I have stayed at this hotel twice before, this being my third time I thought I knew what I was getting and was really looking forward to it, having been bragging to my fiancé and a friend I brought along about how lovely it was,I was very excited to show them. I was left quite embarrassed within hours of being there. This year I found a lot of the staff rude and arrogant. Especially the men that give out the towels. My fiancé and I mislaid our towel cards on the second day. When we went to speak to them about it, they told us it was "our problem". I've never been spoken to in such a rude manner by any member of staff in any hotel ever in the world! Some of the bar staff were rude and flippant, almost as if they were doing us a favour by serving us. They were often engaged in conversation with there colleges when we approached the bar and carried on these conversations giving us no eye contact and seeming as though they were being put out by us. Again the reception staff were also incredibly rude and condescending on a couple of occasions, especially if your room key stops working lol . The staff in the buffet restaurants were equally as rude at times. They are meant to come to your table to offer drinks but at times we had waited so long we'd have to stand up and go and find somebody and ask for a drink. Our rooms had no water in them on arrival . Granted somebody brought some to our room when we rang but I believe there should have been water already in the fridge as there has been in the past. The housekeeping didn't replenish our toilet rills for 2 days and we had to use baby wipes. Nor did we have clean spoon provided for the tea and coffees all week! Mid way through the week I decided to complain to reception and asked to see a supervisor or manager about my issue hoping they would be resolved or maybe offered an upgrade etc as I explained to the receptionist I had been in tears at some points about our treatment. I also wanted to give them a chance to rectify so didn't have to leave a poor review. But the receptionist said she would rather I told her than her get a manger. I told her I'd been in tears. She said she understood my grievances and would leave a message in our room shortly. When we arrived back to our room a few hours later we found a generic letter of apology, not specific to us or our complaints and a bottle a fizzy wine that you can collect free at the bar yourself if you are all inclusive, which we were. I found this a slap in the face. And the nail in the coffin as we don't even drink. Lol These staff need to learn service with a smile. The spa was lovely but the massages are a rip off and not what is advertised. I chose to have a Thai massage and paid 95 euros just to get in there and be told it isn't really a Thai massage they do it's more European Thai (what ever that is) My fiancé had a massage, a different style, at the same time, and half the price of mine. But when we discussed our massages after it sounded as if we'd had exactly the same massage, just mine was 50 euros more expensive lol. Later that week we paid a Thai lady 30 euros for a massage on the beach next to the hotel and it was brilliant. Good points about the hotel: The animation team were extremely friendly and rest the staff could with taking a leaf out of their book about customer service. The poolside bar men are brilliant. An Asian bar lady in the main bar who was great. The cleanliness of the hotel. The food is amazing. The evening entertainment is awesome. The setting. The decor. Smells incredibly fresh as soon as you walk in. Plenty of place/sofas to sit in and around the hotel. Obviously I do have some good things to say about the hotel but for me if you are treated badly by members of staff it over rides andy amount of cleanliness and good food.

RECEPTION. Young girl checking us in stared blankly at her screen for a few minutes then had to ask someone, she did say she was new. Eventually checked in, a lovely man showed us to our room, I had requested on booking and e-mailed a week prior to arriving for a quiet pool view and a double bed, I got neither. Complained and the next morning the twin beds were made into a king size bed. We also could have moved but we had had such a good night sleep and it was very quiet that we stayed put. We arrived at approx. 11.30 at night and was not offered any food ! Rooms are nice with gowns and slippers to use (nice touch) and free safety deposit boxes). Also free wi fi around the hotel and in the room (although it did drop out quite a lot). RESTAURANTS, food was good (could be hotter) and need more potatoes and vegetables at evening meals (I only saw brocolli at breakfast). Mexican, Italian and Portofino all nice for a change. We also went across to the White Island for a couple of meals, again nice for a change. I am still not sure why men have to wear closed in shoes in a la carte retaurants, far too hot. BARS. All bar staff are nice, in particular Christina and Michael are always cheerful and always had a nice word to say to you. Again nice to be able to have a choice of where to have a drink, and they will let you take drinks to your room. Only disappointing thing was the cocktails - used to be able to have anything but now only machine ones (not nice) and others have to be paid for. POOLS - the pool that we knew as the quiet/chill out/round pool is now quite noisy, lots of children. The other square pool is nice to listen to music and join in or watch the aqua aerobics etc. but again can get noisy. No quiet pools any more. The beach is nice (free sunbeds and umbrellas are a bonus - there is a sign that says 7 Euros but in small writing says Free to Guests of the Hotel). ENTERTAINMENT - Very good, worked hard to entertain, just could do with being on for longer (only one hour). Love the big stage (better than the old tent). Would be nice for them to put some live music on in the bar for an hour from 11. All inclusive is on until 1am. SPA - was amazing, we went twice (cost 20 euros each for 90 mins.) All in all we had a lovely holiday but would not return.
