Phuket Hotels

One of the must-visit islands in Thailand, Phuket is famous for its picturesque beaches, the buzzing nightlife and the incredible street food. White sands meet the crystal-clear sea on the island's shore, meaning that no matter where you are, you're never far from a show-stopping beach. Whether you want a tranquil hidden gem, sunset party hot-spot or a well-facilitated family beach, there's a stretch of sand for you. There are a million and one reasons for this Thai island to be your next holiday destination, but if you need a little more convincing then take a look below. Or, you can check out our article: 10 reasons to visit Phuket.
Beaches
Phuket’s shoreline has the picture-perfect combination of crystal waters, white sand and greenery. Patong Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island, offering 2.5km of shore and a lively ambience. For a more peaceful day by the sea, Freedom Beach is a little slice of heaven and gives off that ‘desert island’ feel. Paradise Beach is another smaller plot of sand, but is home to restaurants, bars and beach parties. If you’re looking for super-soft sand, Karon Beach is the place to go, where you can enjoy beachfront dining in the north end or chill out by the beautiful trees on the south end.
Food & Drink
You may have heard of the weird and wonderful delights that Thailand has to offer, well Phuket is the perfect place to try these exciting treats. Embark on a culinary adventure with such delicious dishes as pad thai, a stir-fry noodle dish typically with chicken, egg, bean sprouts and a sprinkling of peanuts to top it off. If you love a rice dish, khao pad is a classic and can be enjoyed with chicken, pork or seafood. Feeling daring? Some street food stalls in Phuket also have insects on the menu, which are usually fried and are more popular than you think! To cool off, a Thai iced tea (cha yen) or iced coffee (oliang) will quench your thirst. Or, if you’re looking for something a little stronger, Thai beer and whiskey are easy finds in Phuket’s bars.
Culture
With a predominantly Buddhist population, you’ll never be far from a statue of Buddha or a temple when in Phuket. The Phuket Big Buddha is the most popular landmark in the area and isn’t one to miss. Sat on top of the Nakkerd Hills, the structure is a sight in itself but is also a perfect spot for watching the sunset. If you’re lucky enough to travel to Phuket in April, you might just catch Songkran (Thai New Year), where it’s traditional to throw water at each other. Basically, if you head into Phuket Town on the morning of Songkran, there should be a great water fight taking place, ready for you to jump right into! If you prefer drier festivals, Phuket Old Town Festival celebrates local culture with street food, music and parades and is an all-round fantastic experience.
Nightlife
Beach clubs and sunset bars are dotted around the island’s coast, perfect spots for entering the evening with a cocktail in hand and tunes in your ears. If you’re more of a party animal, Patong is the hot spot for clubs and bars that buzz until the early hours of the morning. Bangla Road in Patong Beach is a pedestrian-only zone, lit with neon signs and home to never-ending lively bars, discos and shops. If you’d like a break from the club life and fancy some live music, the Hard Rock Café in Phuket is a fantastic venue for gigs and is covered in super-cool rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia.
