Beaches
Skanes is home to many miles of soft sand beaches, with many of the hotels in the area having their own private area. If you’re an adrenaline-seeker, you’ll be pleased to know that a wide range of watersports are available at most beaches, while for those who would prefer to sit back and top up their tan, sun loungers line much of the golden sands.

Food & Drink
Cuisine in Tunisia is really important to the locals, with them taking much pride in their delicious creations. Sample brik (pronounced breek), made up from a pastry shell with a variety of different fillings, the dish is usually served at Ramadan, hence its popularity. To wash your meal down, the wine-like Muscat is a favourite, while mint tea is also a popular choice.

Culture
Tunisia is a unique location in that it benefits from a mix of European, African and Arabian influences. As a smaller suburb, Skanes is lined with local shops and restaurants giving a more authentic feel to the region compared to the more tourist-centric areas. Souks also form a large part of Tunisian culture and you’ll find many over the region selling everything from pottery, jewellery and more.

Nightlife
Due to the more laid back atmosphere of Skanes, there aren’t any big nightclubs in the area, although many of the hotels offer their own bars which are usually open to non-guests. For a big night out, jump in a taxi to the bigger resorts of Monastir or Sousse, where you’ll find large nightclubs including the open-air Bora Bora.
