Climate Overview
Morocco serves up year-round sunshine and a climate that's always ready for a holiday, whether you’re craving a warm winter escape or a sizzling summer by the sea. Along the Atlantic coast, the weather stays reliably pleasant even in winter, with plenty of bright days and mild evenings. The Mediterranean coast offers slightly warmer seas as summer rolls in, while the inland regions can ramp up the heat fast - ideal if you like it hot, but the coast is where you’ll want to chill.
From the surf towns of Agadir to the bustling beaches near Tangier, Morocco’s coastline has its own rhythm. The Atlas Mountains and the Sahara definitely have their own microclimates, but for classic beach holibobs, stick to the Atlantic or Mediterranean shores for the best of the weather and the most comfortable sea swims.
Seasons Overview
Spring (March - May): Spring in Morocco is all about pleasant warmth and longer, brighter days. Daytime temperatures settle between 22°C and 25°C, with hardly any rain - especially by May, which sees only 5mm. The sea is warming up, and there’s a real freshness in the air, making it prime time for both beach lazing and exploring the coast.
Summer (June - August): Moroccan summer turns up the heat in style, with July and August peaking at 28°C. Rain is basically off the menu, the sea reaches a comfy 21°C, and you’ll get a full 10 hours of sunshine daily. Humidity is gentle enough that you won’t feel swamped, but it’s definitely classic sunbathing weather - just add a sunhat and a chilled drink.
Autumn (September - November): Autumn in Morocco is a sweet spot for late breaks. September still brings 27°C and 21°C sea temps, with rain only just beginning to return. October and November cool down a touch but it’s still sun-soaked, and the sea stays inviting. The crowds thin out, so you get more space on the sand and a slower pace in the evenings.
Winter (December - February): Winter doesn’t mean braving the chill here - Morocco’s coastal air hovers around 20°C to 21°C, with 7 hours of sunshine most days. The sea’s a mild 16°C to 18°C, and while you might catch a passing shower, rain is never a holiday spoiler. It’s a top-tier destination for anyone after a bit of winter sun without trekking too far from home.
Best Time To Visit
For a classic Morocco beach holiday, aim for late spring to early autumn, from May to September. During these months, you’ll find 25°C to 28°C daytime highs, sea temperatures of 18°C to 21°C, and barely any rain - July and August don’t see a drop. Sunshine is basically guaranteed, so you can pack light and plan for lazy days seaside. If you’re after a quieter break, late September into October still offers warm air and sea, but with fewer crowds and a gentler pace. And for those chasing winter sun, Morocco’s coast in December or January is a cheeky shout - mild, bright, and just the ticket when the UK feels a bit too grey.
