🌤️ When to Visit Rimini

☀️ Summer (June - August) | 28-32°C

Peak season. The beach is packed, the nightlife is at full throttle and hotel prices are at their highest. August is the busiest month as Italian visitors arrive en masse. Book well ahead.

🌸 Spring (April - May) | 16-22°C

Warm enough for sightseeing and outdoor dining, though the sea is still a bit cool for swimming. Hotels are much cheaper and the old town is lovely without the summer crowds.

🍂 Autumn (September - October) | 18-26°C

September is brilliant - still warm enough for the beach with fewer crowds and lower prices. October cools off and the beach season winds down, but the old town stays lively.

❄️ Winter (November - March) | 5-12°C

Quiet season. Many seafront hotels close. The old town stays open and has a different charm - Christmas markets, fewer tourists and cosy restaurants. San Marino is a great winter day trip.

FAQs

How do I get to Rimini from the UK?

Fly into Rimini Federico Fellini Airport (RMI), which is right on the edge of the city, about 8km from the centre. Some budget airlines fly direct in summer. Alternatively, fly into Bologna (about 1.5 hours by train) which has more year-round flight options. For the easiest airport-to-hotel option, book your transfers through On the Beach - you get a good price and your driver will be waiting for you at arrivals.

Do I have to pay for the beach?

Most of Rimini's beach is divided into numbered private beach clubs (bagni) where you pay for sunbed and umbrella hire (roughly €15-20/day for two sunbeds and an umbrella). There are also free public beach sections (spiaggia libera) in between - look for the gaps between the numbered clubs.

Is Rimini good for families?

Brilliant. The shallow, sandy beach is perfect for kids, and there are three theme parks nearby - Italia in Miniatura, Fiabilandia and Aquafan. The seafront promenade is flat and easy for pushchairs, and there's pizza, gelato and piadina on every corner.

How far is San Marino from Rimini?

About 20km inland, roughly 30 minutes by car or bus. Regular buses run from Rimini to San Marino. It's one of the world's smallest countries, perched on a mountaintop with three medieval towers and duty-free shopping. Makes a brilliant half-day trip.

What's the nightlife like?

Rimini is one of Italy's best-known party destinations. The seafront strip has beach bars, clubs and live music venues that run well into the early hours in summer. The stretch between Marina Centro and neighbouring Riccione is the main nightlife zone.
