We get it, once you're in that all-inclusive resort bubble, it's very hard to justify stepping out of it, but there's so much to see and do in Kiotari, that we thought we'd give you a list of bits and bobs to check out... just in case:

Visit Asklipio - head up the hill to this traditional village to see the medieval castle ruins and epic views.
Lindos Acropolis - take a quick taxi ride to explore the ancient history and wind through the maze-like streets of Lindos.
Water Sports - rent a jet ski or try windsurfing at the local centre to burn off that breakfast buffet.
Glass Bottom Boat - hop on a boat tour to see what is happening underwater without getting your hair wet.
Prasonisi Trip - drive south to see the 'Kiss of the Two Seas' where the Aegean and Mediterranean meet - spectacular stuff.

If you are booking for July or August, prepare for a proper scorcher. Temperatures sizzle above 30°C, and the sun is toasty, so you will want to have a Fanta Lemon in one hand and sun cream in the other. The coastal breeze helps, but it is definitely sun-worshipper territory.

For a slightly cooler but still sunny vibe, May and October are the golden months. You can expect temperatures to sit comfortably in the mid-20s, which is warm enough for a tan but cool enough to wander around the local villages without melting.

Kiotari's about 55-60km from Rhodes Airport — roughly an hour's drive down the east coast. It's one of the longer transfers on Rhodes, but the route takes you past some gorgeous scenery. The easiest option is booking transfers through On the Beach as part of your package so someone's waiting for you at arrivals. Taxis from the rank cost around €70-80, and local bus services run along the coast but take longer.

Quiet — and that's the whole point. Kiotari's a resort-based destination where most of the action happens inside the big all-inclusive hotels. Outside the hotels there's a handful of tavernas, a few shops, and a couple of beach bars, but this isn't somewhere you come for buzzing nightlife or a busy strip. For bigger nights out, Lindos is 20 minutes away and Faliraki is about 45 minutes up the coast.

Lindos is about 15-20km north of Kiotari — roughly 20 minutes by taxi or car. Local buses run regularly along the coast road too. It's one of the most popular day trips from Kiotari and well worth the visit for the Acropolis, the whitewashed village streets, and St Paul's Bay. You could spend a full day exploring.

Brilliant for families who want a resort-based holiday. The big all-inclusive hotels have kids' clubs, waterparks, multiple pools, and entertainment sorted — so the kids are happy and the parents can actually relax. The beach is shallow in patches which is good for paddling, and the whole area feels safe and quiet. The only downside is the long transfer from the airport, but once you're there, you're set.

One of Kiotari's main attractions is its fabulous EU approved blue flag beach, which runs the entire length of the town. With shingles at one end and sand at the other, the beach is a clean and safe place with plenty of watersports on offer including para gliding, windsurfing, and even banana boats!

For fans of Greek mythology the town of Lindos is only a short bus ride away, with ancient sights that will get those cameras out! If you wish to go sightseeing in Kiotari though, you should make sure to visit the nearby town of Asklipio which is home to the famous Byzantine Fortress. Kiotari also caters for fans of shopping, with three large supermarkets and a range of small stores that will ensure you come home with plenty of good gifts.

History & Culture
Kiotari might look like a modern resort town, but the area's been settled for centuries — and the locals haven't forgotten it. Up the hill in Asklipio village, you'll find a medieval castle built by the Knights of St John and the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin, an 11th-century Byzantine gem covered floor-to-ceiling in original frescoes that are some of the best-preserved on Rhodes. It's a proper hidden highlight that most tourists miss because they never leave the pool.
The biggest local celebrations are the Assumption of the Virgin Mary every August 15th — when the whole area comes alive with food, music, and processions — and the Festival of Sotiros every August 5th-6th. If your jollies overlap, you'll stumble into genuine Greek celebrations with dancing, local food, and that properly festive atmosphere that makes Greece special.

Let's be upfront — Kiotari's nightlife is your hotel, and honestly? That's fine. The big all-inclusive resorts here put on proper entertainment: amphitheatre shows, live music, Greek dancing, themed nights, and cocktail bars with sea views. Most guests don't feel the need to venture out, and we can see why.
If you do fancy a change of scene, there are a handful of beachfront tavernas and cocktail bars along the main road for a chilled evening out. For proper nightlife, Lindos is 20 minutes away with rooftop bars and cocktail terraces, and Faliraki is about 45 minutes up the coast if you want the full Bar Street experience.

Kiotari sits on one of the prettiest stretches of Rhodes' southeast coast, backed by the slopes that climb towards Asklipio and framed by that long, sweeping beach.
