Roda is where old Corfu meets proper family holidays, a former fishing village on the northern coast that has found its groove as one of the island's most welcoming resorts.
💡 Good to Know
☀️ Weather: Corfu's northern coast is reliably warm from June through September, with temperatures in the mid to high 20s and sea breezes that take the edge off at peak summer. July and August are the hottest months, while June and September offer warmth without the full August crush. Spring from March onwards warms up nicely for an early break.
💶 Money: Roda is one of the better-value spots on Corfu. A cold Mythos at a beachside bar is around £2 to £3, a taverna dinner for two comes in at £25 to £40, and most beaches are free. The shallow water means you save on swim shoes too.
🎉 Fun fact: Roda sits right next to the ruins of the ancient Temple of Apollo, one of the oldest Greek temples on Corfu. So while you're working on your tan, you're technically doing it in the shadow of over 2,500 years of history.
Highlights of your Roda Holidays 2026 / 2027
Seven kilometres of Blue Flag sandy beach shared with neighbouring Acharavi, essentially two resorts for the price of one
Shallow, calm waters that are ideal for families with young children and those who like to wade in gradually with a drink in hand
A genuinely flat, easy-going layout that makes it one of the most accessible and walkable resorts on the island
Best beaches for your Roda holidays
Roda's coastline is one of its strongest suits, a long, gentle sweep of sand and shingle with calm water and the northern hills as a backdrop.
Roda Beach – the main beach in the resort, a Blue Flag stretch of sand and dark shingle with sunloungers, water sports and tavernas lined up along the back. The water is shallow for a long way out, which makes it brilliant for families and casual swimmers alike. Parasailing and jet-skiing are available for those who want a bit more excitement.
Acharavi Beach – Roda's neighbour shares the same 7km stretch and is just a 25-minute walk along the seafront. It's a touch quieter and better suited to those looking to tuck into a book away from the main buzz. Tucked-away restaurants line the route if you work up an appetite along the way.
Astrakeri Beach – around 10 minutes west of Roda, this is a hidden gem of a beach, overlooked by just a couple of tavernas and usually wonderfully uncrowded. A brilliant change of pace from the main resort strip.
Sidari Canal d'Amour – around 15 minutes west by taxi, Sidari's famous rock formations have been carved into extraordinary shapes by the sea. The Canal d'Amour (Canal of Love) is the most iconic stretch, legend has it that couples who swim through it together stay together. Worth a half-day trip.
Agnos Beach – a short hop up the coast from Roda, another quieter option that offers a stripped-back, authentic alternative to the main beach if you fancy a change of scene.
Where to stay on your Roda holidays
Roda is compact and flat, so almost anywhere in the village puts you within easy walking distance of the beach, the tavernas and the main strip. Here's how it breaks down.
For families: The central part of the resort closest to the beach is the sweet spot, shallow water right on the doorstep, sunloungers a two-minute walk away and the pedestrianised strip of shops and restaurants nearby for evening entertainment.
For couples: The quieter end towards Acharavi or on the seafront away from the main strip offers a more peaceful atmosphere. The adults-only options along this stretch are well suited to couples who want Roda's charm without the family-resort noise.
For groups: The pedestrianised strip through the village is where the bars and entertainment are concentrated. You're also a 15-minute taxi ride from Sidari if the group wants a proper night out with clubs and a bigger bar scene.

Roda Travel Guide 2026/2027
Things to do for families
Roda earns its family-friendly reputation through genuinely safe, shallow beaches, a flat and walkable layout, and enough activities to keep all ages happy without working too hard at it.
Hydropolis Water Park, Acharavi – right next to Roda in the neighbouring resort, this is one of the best waterparks on Corfu. Slides for all ages, a lazy river, splash zones for toddlers and enough to fill a full day. Entry around £20 to £25 for adults and less for children.
Aqualand Resort Waterpark – a bigger waterpark further south on the island, with more slides, a pool complex and even spa facilities for parents who want a breather while the kids go wild. A solid full-day family excursion.
Boat trips from Roda port – organised boat trips run from the port to nearby coves and beaches, often including swimming stops and lunch. The trip to the neighbouring islands of Erikoussa and Paxos is a favourite. Easy to book at the port or through hotel desks the evening before.
Horse riding at Eric's – saddle up for a guided ride through the Corfiot countryside or along the beach. Available for all experience levels and a proper highlight for kids (and grown-ups who want to feel like they're in a film).
Temple of Apollo ruins – just outside the village, the ruins of this ancient Greek temple are free to visit and a surprisingly engaging half-hour for older kids with any interest in history. The oldest significant ruins on Corfu, and they're right on your doorstep.
Things to do for couples
Roda's charm for couples lies in its relaxed pace, the beautiful northern light on the hills at sunset and a taverna scene that rewards those who wander away from the main strip.
Sunset dinner on the waterfront – the tavernas right on Roda's seafront are at their best in the golden hour. Grilled octopus, a cold glass of Corfiot white wine and the last of the day's light on the Ionian is about as good as evenings get in Greece.
Day trip to Corfu Town – around an hour south, Corfu's UNESCO-listed Venetian old town is one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. Narrow streets, elegant arcades, a massive Venetian fortress and enough café terraces to make an afternoon of it very easily. A brilliant day out for two.
Canal d'Amour swim, Sidari – local legend says couples who swim through the natural rock arch at Canal d'Amour will stay together forever. Whether you believe it or not, the rock formations are genuinely spectacular and the water is a brilliant turquoise. About 15 minutes by taxi.
Wine tasting – Corfu produces some excellent wine and the wineries around the island offer tastings and tours. Theotoky Estate past Paleokastritsa and the Nicoluzo Winery near Ipsos are both worth a half-day trip for those who want something different from the beach.
Walk to Episkepsi village – a 90-minute hike through lush, tree-lined countryside from Roda leads to this traditional hilltop village in the foothills of Mount Pantokrator, with sweeping views over the northern coast and a glass of local wine as your reward at the top.
Things to do for groups
Roda is a relaxed resort at heart, but it has enough going on to keep a group well entertained, and the northern coast gives you easy access to livelier options when the mood strikes.
Greek nights at local tavernas – several tavernas in and around Roda put on traditional Greek evenings with live music, folk dancing and the ceremonial smashing of plates. Absolutely guaranteed to go down well with any group. Book a table at the waterfront and arrive hungry.
Water sports on the beach – jet-skiing, parasailing and beach volleyball are all available on Roda Beach throughout the day. A brilliant way to fill a morning before a long taverna lunch.
Day trip to Sidari – 15 minutes by taxi, Sidari is the northern coast's livelier resort with more bars, clubs and a proper night-out scene. A good option if the group wants to dial things up for an evening without moving hotel.
Snail racing – this is not a drill. Roda's pedestrianised strip hosts snail racing once a week, which is simultaneously the most niche and most universally beloved group activity on the island. Free to watch, very easy to get invested in.
Boat day trip to Paxos – the small island of Paxos is around two hours by boat from Roda, with turquoise sea caves, tiny villages and some of the clearest water in the Ionian. Organised full-day trips run from the port and typically include swimming, snorkelling and lunch. Around £30 to £40 per person.
Local Lingo
Greek is the language of Corfu, and while tourist-facing staff speak excellent English throughout Roda, a few words in Greek land really well with locals. Corfiots are warm and welcoming, and any attempt at the language tends to get a proper smile.
Yia sas (Γεια σας) – Hello / Goodbye (formal)
Yia sou (Γεια σου) – Hi / Bye (informal)
Efharisto (Ευχαριστώ) – Thank you
Parakalo (Παρακαλώ) – Please / You're welcome
Stin iyia mas (Στην υγειά μας) – Cheers
Poso kani? (Πόσο κάνει;) – How much is it?
Pastitsada – the most famous dish in Corfu, slow-cooked chicken or veal in red wine, garlic and spices. Order it at least once.
One thing worth knowing: if a taverna owner brings you a complimentary shot of raki or a small plate of fruit at the end of your meal, it's hospitality, not a billing error. Say efharisto and accept graciously.
More Corfu destinations
Sidari – the liveliest resort on the northern coast, with the famous Canal d'Amour rock formations, a big bar scene and a proper night-out atmosphere. About 15 minutes from Roda by taxi.
Kassiopi – a charming village on the northeast coast with a Venetian castle, a picturesque harbour and a more upmarket, grown-up feel than the northern resorts. Around 30 minutes from Roda.
Corfu Town (Kerkyra) – the UNESCO-listed Venetian capital, with a stunning old town, two fortresses, elegant arcades and the best restaurants on the island. About an hour south, and worth every minute of the drive.
More Greece destinations
Kefalonia – Corfu's Ionian neighbour, bigger, wilder and less developed, with the extraordinary Melissani Cave, sweeping Myrtos Beach and the charming port village of Poros as a base.
Rhodes – a medieval walled city that's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a serious beach scene and enough history to fill a fortnight. The Old Town alone is worth the flight.
Crete – Greece's largest island, combining Minoan palaces, the Samaria Gorge and beaches ranging from the pink sands of Elafonissi to the long stretches of Malia. Could easily fill two separate holidays.

The climate here is a classic Mediterranean dream, serving up sizzle throughout the peak summer months where temperatures often hit a wham 30°C. While the winter months bring the much-needed rain to keep the island looking gorge and green, the holiday season stays reliably dry, with the sea warming up to a delish 25°C by August. If you prefer a more chill vibe, the shoulder months of May and October offer a comfortable 20°C, making it top-tier weather for exploring the olive groves without feeling like you're in an oven.
