🏖️ Best Beaches in and around Cala'n Forcat

  • 🏝️ Cala'n Forcat cove. The resort's namesake inlet, split in two by a rocky finger of land, with small sandy patches between big flat sunbathing rocks and pools of startlingly clear water. Perfect for confident swimmers and snorkellers, better than a classic family beach for strong swimmers and teens than tiny toddlers.

  • 🏖️ Cala'n Blanes beach (fifteen-minute walk). The proper sandy option in the cluster, a sheltered cove backed by pine trees with shallow, calm water. This is where you bring the buckets and spades.

  • 🪸 Cala'n Brut. A smaller inlet just south, known for its jumping platforms at various heights set into the rocks. A rite of passage for visiting teenagers, and fun to watch with a cold drink even if you're not leaping off anything yourself.

  • 🚤 Cala Blanca (five kilometres south). Lovely purpose-built resort beach with soft white sand, shallow water, waterslides and a more classic beach-resort setup. Worth a morning trip for a change of scene.

  • 🌅 Pont d'en Gil sunset spot. Not a swimming beach, but the walk along the cliffs to this natural sea arch is the evening ritual in Cala'n Forcat. Bring a bottle of Menorcan wine and watch the sky do its thing.

🛏️ Where to Stay

Families

Base yourself close to the cove itself at Cala'n Forcat for the shortest walk to the waterpark, the train stop and the main family-friendly bars at Jimmy Hills Square. Seafront options like Globales Club Almirante Farragut put the bay on your doorstep, while complex-style stays at Menorca Sea Club and Globales Los Delfines give you more room for spread-out days with the kids. The whole cluster is walkable, so you're never more than fifteen minutes from a sandy beach at neighbouring Cala'n Blanes.

Couples

The clifftop end above the cove is where the more intimate hotels sit, with Pont d'en Gil's sunset walk as your evening routine and BLUESEA Cabo de Baños's panoramic views as the headline act. You're still only a four-kilometre hop from Ciutadella for harbourside tapas and cocktails, making it the perfect balance of quiet base plus evenings out in one of Spain's prettiest port towns.

Groups

For mates' trips or extended family groups, the apartment complexes in the Los Delfines area around Cala'n Blanes offer the most flexibility, with kitchens, multiple pool setups and bar strips within walking distance. Globales Club Almirante Farragut works especially well for groups that want an active week, with all those paddle courts and pitches included, while Talayot's six pools and karaoke bar tend to sort themselves out.

🗣️ Local Lingo

Menorca's a bilingual island, with Catalan (specifically Menorquí, the local dialect) as the native language alongside Spanish. Most menus and signs are in Catalan first, Spanish second, and English often third, but absolutely everyone in the resorts speaks English. Having a go at either of the local languages earns a big smile and the better service every time. A few to get you started:

  • Hola, Hello (works in Catalan or Spanish)

  • Bon dia, Good morning (Catalan)

  • Gràcies (Catalan) / Gracias (Spanish), Thank you

  • Una canya, si us plau, A small beer, please (Catalan, the classic bar order)

  • Pomada, The local Menorcan cocktail of Xoriguer gin and cloudy lemonade, the drink of the Sant Joan fiesta

FAQs

How do I get to Cala'n Forcat from the airport?

Menorca Airport (Mahon) is about 50km away on the opposite side of the island – around 50-60 minutes by road. Transfers can be arranged when you book your holiday with us.

What's the beach like?

Cala'n Forcat has a unique forked cove with small sandy areas and rocky platforms for sunbathing. The water is crystal-clear and calm – brilliant for snorkelling but perhaps better suited to confident swimmers. For proper sandy beach days, Cala'n Blanes is a 15-minute walk.

Is Cala'n Forcat good for families?

Absolutely. The calm waters, Aqua Center waterpark, family entertainment at Jimmy Hills Square and child-friendly restaurants make it a brilliant choice for families. The resort train connecting the beaches is a hit with kids too.

What is there to do in the evening?

The resort has plenty of bars, British-style pubs and restaurants along Avinguda Los Delfines. Jimmy Hills Square offers tribute acts and family entertainment. For something more sophisticated, Ciutadella's harbour is 10 minutes away with tapas bars and live music.

Can I visit Ciutadella easily?

Yes! The old capital is just 4km away. Regular buses run from the resort, or it's a quick taxi ride. The harbour, cathedral, boutique shops and tapas bars make it well worth an evening (or several).

What's the best time to visit?

June to September offers the best weather and all facilities open. For quieter vibes and lower prices, May and October are lovely with warm temperatures and fewer crowds. Most hotels close November to April.

Do I need a car?

For a week's holiday based entirely around the resort cluster (Cala'n Forcat, Cala'n Blanes, the waterpark, Ciutadella evenings out), you don't need one, local buses and taxis cover everything. If you want to explore the south-coast beaches, hike the Camí de Cavalls, or reach places like Fornells and Mahón at your own pace, a hire car for two or three days is the move, with rental available from Menorca Airport or in Ciutadella.

What about evenings?

The main evening strip runs along Avinguda Los Delfines with British-style pubs, family restaurants and a handful of proper Menorcan tapas spots mixed in. Jimmy Hills Square runs tribute acts and variety shows through the summer for the family-entertainment crowd. For something more substantial, ten minutes in a taxi gets you to Ciutadella's harbour, which is a genuinely beautiful spot to eat fresh fish, sip a pomada and watch the yachts come in.
