Tucked into the southwest coast of Majorca, Paguera (or Peguera – same place, two spellings) is a properly pretty beach resort with three Blue Flag beaches, a buzzing boulevard packed with shops and restaurants, and some of the best sunsets on the island. The town's name means "oven tar" in Catalan – a nod to the pine resin that once came from the forests blanketing the hillsides around here.
It's popular with German holidaymakers (you'll hear "Guten Tag" as often as "Hola"), but the British contingent is catching on fast. And no wonder – this is a resort that's got the lot: sandy beaches with calm, shallow water perfect for families, a proper promenade for evening strolls, hiking trails into the surrounding hills, and enough restaurants to keep you fed for a fortnight without repeating. Plus, you're only 25 minutes from Palma and close enough to Magaluf if you fancy a big night out.
✨ Good to Know
☀️ Over 300 days of sunshine a year – summer highs hit 30°C with sea temps around 23°C in peak season
💶 Expect to pay around €5-6 for a pint and €12-15 for a main course – middle-of-the-road for southwest Majorca
🌲 The town name comes from pine tar – the surrounding forests are still gorgeous and packed with walking trails
